Is it just me, or does the huge fire elemental seem a tad overpowered for a CR 7 creature?

136 hp
Full attack: 2 slams +17 melee (2d8+4 plus 2d8 fire) (plus they need to make a reflex save of 22 or catch fire for 1d4 rounds)

I put this thing up against a capable level 7 party and it easily deals on average around 40-50 hp of damage per round.

The question you should be asking yourself is why your party has such low ac that they get hit all the time?

Short answer is no.

A huge elemental only has a AC itself of 19 before using it's Dodge feat. Not a insanely high AC. Sure it has DR and other Elemental traits but it has a good number of weaknesses also. 7th Level party should have access to 4th level spells. Phantasmal Killer, Charm Monster, Dismissal against its lower Will Save. Ice Storm, Wall of Ice, Orb of Ice against its vulerability. It'll deal out a nice bit of damage for a round or two but after that it should be snuffed pretty quickly. Plus the party by 7th level can afford some sort of fire resistance. Heck summoning a Huge Elemental is a 7th level Wizard spell, 6th for Druids. If the party is prepared the thing doesnt stand a chance, if not it still should only last a few rounds.
