| Xabre12-21-05, 01:44 PM | Lessee if I'm doing this correctly... this is my first try at a Monster of Legacy. Dragonkin is the base monster. ECL 7 (see below why it's 7, and not 9). 1 level of Warmage. ECL 8. 10 levels of my custom made Sorcererous Dragon Disciple (see my sig). ECL 18. +4 flaming claws (Greater Legacy Power) Evasion (Lesser Legacy Power) See Invisibility (Lesser Legacy Power) Scorching Ray (2 rays, at will, as a 10th level caster) (Least Legacy Power) Fly +10' (Least Legacy Power). The end result is an 18HD ECL 20. As per the entry for creating legacy monsters, they loose all Level Adjustment when they gain Legacy Powers. Of course, what this really means is that a better build would be to take the Half-Dragon Template, a few levels of Half-Dragon paragon... Now, the reason this creature IS a monster of legacy, is because he's the first Dragonkin to truly reach back into his genes, and awaken the draconic side of himself, including all the arcane power. All of his feats are based around the Draconic heritage feats from Complete Arcane (using his dragonic lineage as a prereq, instead of sorcerer levels). All things considered, it's NOT relaly an overpowering Legacy critter. He's got a few powers that are pretty worthwhile... nothing truly earthshaking. He's easily playable as a PC, I feel. |

The bit in Weapons of Legacy about dropping the level adjustment is part of the bit where it is stated "Legacy monsters are never appropriate as player characters or cohorts." Provided you recalculate this thing in terms of CR rather than ECL, then according to the book yeah, it looks like it should be getting a +2 CR from having 2 or more lesser abilities, but not yet a second greater ability. |
