| Baduk03-21-07, 06:25 AM | Hello there, I hope this is the right sub-forum for this question. It might also belong in the adventures or "what's a dm to do" forums but since this is a monster specific question I thought it fitted better in here. Here's the deal: what happens if a pc falls into a pit with water where a Flotsam Ooze resides and he's carrying soap? According to: http://boards1.wizards.com/showpost.php?p=10648080&postcount=270 the Flotsam Ooze doesn't like the soap but how much will the soap affect it? Might depend on where the soap is (in his hand, his pocket or somewhere far in his non-waterresistant backpack) but I'd like some indication. Feel free to bash me for using the wrong forum etc... |

Most likely, the soap is just irritating to it and has little to no real game value other than that an application reduces the ooze's grapple and actually forces it to make one. |

| Baduk03-22-07, 11:25 AM | hehe ok I see. But since on of my pc's has actually been bragging about carrying soap around in our first adventure (and claiming the rest of us were a smelly bunch) I think I'll make the ooze react a bit more afraid of him haha. Soap ftw |
| mvincent03-22-07, 06:07 PM | According to <this> (http://boards1.wizards.com/showpost.php?p=10648080&postcount=270) the Flotsam Ooze doesn't like the soap I do not see the anything in that link that says that a Flotsam Ooze doesn't like soap, only that soap can help one break free of it's adhesive (similar to how strong alcohol dissolves a mimic (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/monsters/mimic.htm)'s adhesive). |

Note that powdered soap is a useful adventuring tool. It can be: 1) scattered around to detect invisible creatures 2) Put on the ground with water to make an area slippery 3) dumped into water to create suds (concealment) and possibly annoy/choke aquatic creatures. 4) used to counteract or dilute ongoing acidic damage (since soap is a 'base'), which can annoy to most oozes (because they are acid based). 5) used to clean things etc. |
| Baduk03-23-07, 06:07 AM | ok good point on the correct usage and wow! powdered soap is more usefull than I thought. I think he's carrying a normal piece of soap though. Throwing damage? |
| JudgeDeadd03-23-07, 01:22 PM | Depends how much the piece of soap weighs. :D |
