| Spikes01k09-07-07, 03:14 PM | I have found my self just baffled by this feat's wording. I am not sure if it is correct. Flyby Attack [General] Prerequisite Fly speed. Benefit When flying, the creature can take a move action (including a dive) and another standard action at any point during the move. The creature cannot take a second move action during a round when it makes a flyby attack. Normal Without this feat, the creature takes a standard action either before or after its move. Ok if I understand this correct, which I doubt actually. You my make one attack during your move, or dive. Then you may make an attack at the end of your movement. However you may not make another move after your first as you standard attack. Another question. If you meet the requirements does your second attack gained by this feat can also count as a dive attack, thus granting you two dive attacks? Thank You. Spikes01k |

For example: If your fly speed is 60ft, you can take a move action to move 60ft normally. Anytime during that movement you can take a standard action. So you could fly 10ft-standard action-50ft, or 30ft-std.action-30ft, etc. That standard action can be any standard action you can normally take. You can attack, cast a spell, use a breath weapon, ect. You are still only allowed one move action and one standard action, when using Flyby Attack. Therefore, you cannot attack twice during the same turn by virtue of this feat. The exception, of course, is if you had some ability that allowed you to get mutiple attacks as a standard action, such as the Manyshot feat. |

The advantage is that you can move from point A to point B, attack at point B, and move back to point A again - all in one round provided that the distance A-B is no more than half your movement rate. Normally, you'd be "stuck" at point B until your next turn. This way, the flyby-attacking creature forces the opponent to either ready attacks for the flyby, attack using flight themselves, or using missile weapons. It's really an aerial version of Spring Attack. |
