That's right, I'm looking for monsters based on foods like candies and deserts.

...Maybe an Ice Cream Elemental?

If I can't find a sufficient amount of monsters, would ya'll mind helping me as I try to create some myself?

I've already found a 'Gingerbread Golem' on the site 'Order of the Stick' is on, but that's really the only one.

There is a hot cocoa dragon on the monster boards.

Ah, yes, that would make an excellent boss for the end of what I have in mind. :lightbulb

However, I still need some lesser enemies...

I'm liking that Ice Cream Elemental idea I had, and possibly some swarms of animated candy. Yes, that will work.

Now, just a few more and I should be good (after I work out the statistics for the elemental and the swarm).

That's right, I'm looking for monsters based on foods like candies and deserts. Not sure if you've yet seen this picture of a gingerbread golem (http://www.wizards.com/dnd/images/twelve/DnDTwelve11card.jpg) on the WotC site.

I just finished taking my players through a "Gingerbread land" layer of the abyss.

I obtained dozens (possibly hundreds) of 25mm scale, pre-pained gingerbread men, carts and houses for dirt cheap at the dollar store (1/2 off after Christmas).

I also created a dozen gingerbread golems (with angry faces) using a make-your-own-gingerbread-man ornament kit and hot-gluing them to poker chip bases.

For stats:
1) The gingerbread people were actually chaos beasts (but stuck in gingerbread form). Those attacked by the gingerbread people started becoming gingerbread people themselves (disconcerting, and provoked the PC's to wipe out their ally mooks to avoid having more enemies to fight)
2) The gingerbread people were often equipped with snowballs (acid vials) or pastries (tanglefoot bags).
3) Parts of (some of) the gingerbread houses could detach and become gingerbread golems (used clay golem stats).
4) Parts of gingerbread land were permanently animated object. Several carts (with 'gingerbread ponies') were actually just huge animated objects.

I'm looking for monsters based on foods like candies and deserts.Almost forgot (from the core rules):
- Black Pudding (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/monsters/ooze.htm#blackPudding)
- Gelatinous Cube (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/monsters/ooze.htm#gelatinousCube) with bits of fruit in it (there's always room for Gel-O)
- Ochre Jelly (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/monsters/ooze.htm#ochreJelly)
- Purple Gummy Worms (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/monsters/purpleWorm.htm)
- Sugar Mephits (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/monsters/mephit.htm)

Ooh, ooh, ooh! I've actually made about three foodbased monsters for a upcoming (think september), game.

The Flan: http://boards1.wizards.com/leaving.php?destination=http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php%3Ft%3D757422

The Death Salad: http://boards1.wizards.com/leaving.php?destination=http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php%3Ft%3D763376

The Citron Assassin: http://boards1.wizards.com/leaving.php?destination=http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php%3Ft%3D761780

I'll say this much, the flan and citron assassin have been game tested, and worked very well for the game they were in. The Death salad is deadly, but if you stay at a range, no problem really.

Also, I hear that there will be a foodbased prestiege class in the upcoming issue of knowledge arcana, check that out.

In front of you, a thick-looking creature clambers forward. It appears to be a vaguely humanoid creature, with no apparent face with eyes or a mouth. It’s skin looks smooth and is mostly a pale white, but occasionally a swirl of dark brown can be seen in it.

Ice Cream Elementals are the result of a rather bored wizard. For the most part, they simply wish to frolic and play amongst frozen lands.

Combat
Ice cream elementals rise out from frozen areas or slide across the land. When they feel threatened, they’re liable to lash out.
Cold (Ex): An ice cream elemental’s body generates intense cold, causing opponents to take an extra 1d4 points of cold damage every time the creature succeeds on a slam attack. Creatures attacking an ice cream elemental unarmed or with natural weapons take this same cold damage each time one of their attacks hits.

CR: 1
Treasure: None
Alignment: Always neutral
Advancement: None
Level Adjustment: -

The ground below you holds piles upon piles of delicious looking treats. From lolipops to hard candies to strips of gum, each looks good in its own way. Unfortunately, the sweets begin to move along with you, swarm under and around you.

These candies are usually content to be left to themselves, dancing around and living carefree.

Combat
Though usually harmless, when they feel threatened, these sweets lurch about and engulf enemies.
Distraction (Ex): Any living creature that begins its turn with a candy swarm in its space must succeed on a DC 11 Fortitude save or be nauseated for 1 round. The DC is Constitution based.
Sticky (Ex): Any living creature that is hit by a Candy Swarm must make a Reflex save with a DC of 15 or their movement is cut in half for 1 round. The save DC is Dexterity based.

How do those stats look?

Sorry if I come across a bit smarmy...I think there is a sand giant in MM3 that might count as a desert based monster. I think sandstorm has a lot of them, too.:P

Alright...I've created a template...but I still need people's opinions on these things...

Gummi
Gummis are creatures that have been magically creature out of a gum-like substance in the image of another beast.
Most are usually in bright hues and are partially transparent. Though they can often be deadly, Gummis are entirely edible, and most humanoids find them enjoyable to eat.
Creating A Gummi
“Gummi” is an acquired template that can be added to any corporeal creature (referred to here after as the base creature), though it is really added to humanoid beings.

Size and Type: The creature’s type changes to Construct, but it size remains the same. It retains any subtypes except alignment subtypes (such as good) and subtypes that indicate kind (such as goblinoid or reptilian). It does not gain the augmented subtype. It uses all the base creature'’ statistics and special abilities except as noted here.

Hit Dice: All Hit Dice from class levels are dropped (to a minimum of one) and changed to d10s. There are no restrictions for the number of Hit Dice for creating a Gummi, other than any restrictions given by class abilities, spells, etc…

Speed: If the base creature can fly, its maneuverability rating drops to clumsy.

Armor Class: Natural armor of the base creature is not retained, and instead the gummi gains a natural armor based on the Gummi’s size:
Fine +1
Diminutive +2
Tiny +3
Small +4
Medium +5
Large +6
Huge +7
Gargantuan +12
Colossal +19

Base Attack: A Gummi gains a base attack bonus equal to ¾ of its HD.

Attacks: A Gummi retains all natural weapons, manufactured weapon attacks, and weapon proficiencies of the base creature. A Gummi also gains a slam attack.

Damage: Natural and manufactured weapons deal damage normally, however, all natural attacks deal only bludgeoning-type damage. A slam attack deals damage depending on the Gummi’s size.
(Use the base creature’s slam damage if it’s better.)
Fine 1
Diminutive 1d2
Tiny 1d3
Small 1d4
Medium 1d6
Large 1d8
Huge 2d6
Gargantuan 2d8
Colossal 4d6

Special Attacks: A gummi retains all of the base creature’s special attacks except for supernatural attacks and spell-like abilities.
Sticky (Ex): Any living creature that is hit by a gummi must make a Reflex save with a DC of 10 + ½ HD + the gummi’s dexterity modifier or their movement is cut in half for 1 round. The save DC is Dexterity based.

Special Qualities: A gummi retains all of the base creature’s special qualities except for supernatural attacks and spell-like abilities.
Damage Reduction (Ex): Gummis gain DR5/slashing

Saves: Base save bonuses are Fort +1/3 HD, Ref +1/3 HD, and Will +1/3 HD.

Abilities: A gummi’s abilities remain the same except that it loses its constitution score (since it is now a construct).

Skills: Gummis carries over all bonuses to skills, but loses any ranks. Instead, it gains skills as constructs do.

Feats: A gummi keeps any feats from its base creature, except those gained by class levels, and gains feats based on its number of HD.

Environment: Sugary variants of any type of land.

Organization: Depends on base creature.

Challenge Rating: A gummi’s CR is equal to the base creature's CR + 1.

Treasure: None

Alignment: Usually neutral

Advancement: As base creature or by class

Level Adjustment: +1

Sample Gummi
The padding of feet coming nearby has a distinct squishing sound to them. As the creature gets closer, it appears to be a life-sized version of a favorite childhood snack. A giant red and yellow colored gummi bear stands before you.
Gummi Bear (Black)
Medium Construct
Hit Dice: 3d10 + 20 (36 hp)
Initiative: +1
Speed: 40 ft. (8 squares)
Armor Class: 16 (+1 Dex, +5 natural), touch 11, flat-footed 15
Base Attack/Grapple: +2/+6
Attack: Claw +6 melee (1d4+4)
Full Attack: 2 claws +6 melee (1d4+4) and bite +1 melee (1d6 +2)
Space/Reach: 5 ft./5 ft.
Special Attacks: Sticky
Special Qualities: Low-light vision, scent, construct traits, DR5/slashing
Saves: Fort +1, Ref +2, Will +2
Abilities: Str 19, Dex 13, Con - , Int 2, Wis 12, Cha 6
Skills: Climb +4, Listen +4, Spot +4, Swim +8
Feats: Endurance, Run
Environment: Sugary temperate forests…
Organization: Solitary or pair
Challenge Rating: 3
Advancement: 4-5 HD (Medium)
Level Adjustment: -

I remember it, I have the adventure with it printed out...but I kinda want more of dessert-like monsters...he's more of a main coarse kinda monster.

Perhaps I can change him into a frozen pastry though...hm...

Cannoli Golem it just might be, but does any one have any comments about the other three things I've made before I create another one.

I especially would like some one's opinion on the CR of the Gummi Template, I'm really not confident about that one.

actually, the gummi template seems awful powerful, I'd love to play a 'forged rogue with that template, from a powergaming perspective.

It may still be online somewhere "The Net Book of Chocolate"

It has Chocolate based PrCs and a Chocolate Golem.

Wow.

This whole thread brought to mind a deity that a friend of mne and I made up when I couldn't think of a deity to use for a cleric I was making. Good times...

Needless to say, he was the god of food/cooking/the culinary arts.

And now he's the only name that I actually use on the Internet anymore.

Yeah...I'm keeping track of this thread. ^_^

Adam Miller's Neverwinter Nights mod Dreamcatcher featured a creature called "The Candy Man". He was a very colorful humanoid candy-based golem or fiend that lost limbs as you hacked away at him.

If by, awful powerful, do you mean I should raise the CR & LA, or that it's just has good potential for making a strong character?
