I'm going to do this so that people can just copy and paste, instead of having to write it down. (STICKY PLEASE!!) The words in brackets ([]) are supposed to be replaced by the information they specify.

One error & one omission.

1.)
Hit Dice: [Hit Dice] + [Bonus Hitpoints] = ([average hp])

You should have a comma, instead of an equal sign.
XdY + ZZ, (AA hp)

2.) Between Armor Class and Attack, you need a line for Base Attack/Grapple:

Thanks, Do you know how i can get this on the list of important links? I think others should know about it too.

I have a feeling that a great many people who frequently post monsters to this board have some sort of a template that they use when creating thier monsters, but this is a great resource for those who may be thinking of posting thier first monster... I second the request for a sticky.

I write the entries out manually whenever I do a monster. I use C&P as often as possible, but it's still tedious, and one of the things that makes me not post very many monsters.

I have been thinking that I should do up a pre-tagged version of my monster template to make board posting quicker, but it would be more tedious to do all the copy-paste transfers for the actual data than the tagging itself; it's sort of doomed until it becomes possible do a copy-paste directly from the formatted document.

Thanks for your support, and if I can't get this stickied or in the important links list, just posting replies and keeping this on the front page will do for me. I just want to help monster-makers.

Why are you doing it in that format instead of the DMG2 format? The new one takes some getting used to but is better overall imo.

I don't have the DMG2, and this is in the big list already. I feel so happy! :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

The DMG2 version is for the stat block, not the Monster format.

Personally, I created an excel workbook to automatically calculate certain numbers and generate the stat block for monster entries. I'm still not used to the DMG2 format though.

Actually... that's just for NPC's and unique creatures, they still use the standard stat block.

Added formatting for age, height, and weight under the "as characters" section.

Does anyone know how to control the size of the code blocks?

Actualy you are incorrect. As of MMIV that's the new standard.

Just delete the spaces. As for the new stat block format, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. This format ain't broke and there's no reason to confuse people and make them waste brain cells remembering the new format.

Anyone made an MS Word (or better OpenOffice.org) template for this yet?

I'm working (slowly) on a macro for my own purposes that does damage/skill point/etc. calculation for me based on ability scores and such (no transcription errors for me!) and I have a spreadsheet for applying templates to monsters but I'm still not a lot closer to outputting to the DMGII stat block due to my inexperience at macroing.

Click. (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=679811)

I'll put all of them in a .doc, .txt, or .rtf if anyone knows where I could host 'em.
