some of the monsters in the monster manual do not have level adjustments like the Ghaele Eladrin and the wyvern. Now savage species has the ghaele listed with a +10 LA. The monster manual gives the the other eladrin a LA but not the Ghaele for a reason I do not understand. I would usually take this as saying the monster's LA was +0 but not even that makes sense. I never trust savage species completely because the monsters are based of their 3.0 counterparts. With some of my players wanting obscure cohorts and exalted companions it is making it hard to balance them with a regular one.

I plugged in the stuff for Treants, and it actually got the 12 ECL, which is what it offically is. So it works!

Keep in mind Soldarin's calculator is very much a 3.0 one. A lot of monster abilities and LA's got changed in 3.5, so definitely take its results with a serious grain of salt.

In the end, you'll still have to do the "acid test" as suggested in Savage Species.

PS: the MM no longer lists LA's for those creatures for which the total ECL would turn out to be 20 or higher. That explains why the 10 HD Ghaele doesn't have an LA listed...
