FORUM PROPOSAL: "What's a Monster to Do?" [Archive] - Wizards Community

The Player's Handbook forum has "What's a Player to Do?"

I think The Monster Lair needs a "What's a Monster to Do" forum.

General monster questions concerning things covered in the SRD/Monster Manual (stats, HD, skills, feats) would remain in the main monster Lair forum.

"What's a Monster to Do" would contain questions and discussions by both DMs and Players about monster "playability." How to improve that monster's performance within the game. How to make that specific monster "better" for both DMs and Players alike.

POSSIBLE CONTENT:

* Discussion of running encounters with a specific monster. Tips on how to best use its special attacks and abilities. (as a DM or even as a player running a monster PC) or the best way for PCs to survive in a battle against them.

* Discussion and analysis of monster combat tactics, like in Chaoticgod's excellent Monster Tactics posts.

* Discussion of specific monster culture, ecology and behavior.

* Designs for lairs/encounter areas for specific monsters.

* Homebrewed content and/or House rules for specific monster types.

Anyone but me think this is a good idea?

It would clear the clutter of the Lair, putting rules questions on a subboard. That leaves homebrews/conversions and miscelanious to the main lair board, meaning threads don't fall as fast and therefore get more replies.

07-15-04, 11:08 PM I'm actually not in favor of this, because I only have limited time on these boards each day, so I generally just go to a couple of forums. I have long load times a lot so it's a bad idea in my sense. I prefer to just scan the titles of a single forum page.

07-17-04, 09:12 PM Well since its a generally well accepted idea, why not sponser some threads with the type of content they could see (such as, How should i run a blink dog encounter[i dont mean like rules for blinking, but more like how does the pack ethos fit in, and how can i use thier abilitys to kill off at least one of the players >:)

New Monster Tactics would definitely be a big part of "What's a Monster to Do?" And all the Monster Tactics threads that Chaoticgod has already done could be moved into this new home.

Now we just need to find a WizO that has the power to create new forums.
