The character starts at first level as normal but with a penalty to almost all rolls including saves, attack, damage, skills, etc. equal to their race's LA adjustment. As they gain levels, the LA penalty is reduced by one for every level until they are right where they should be and can start gaining levels as normal. My question is: does anyone remember exactly what things are affected by the LA penalty. I want to say all of the following Initiative Skills ability checks Attack rolls Damage Rolls Saving throws What I'm not sure on is spellcaster level. Can anyone confirm exactly what the LA penalty in The FRPHB afffects? |

I'm refering to a system in the Forgotten Realms Player's Handbook where they allow you to play a race with a LA adjustment with a 1st level party. You do this by taking a penalty equal to your adjustment. I'm just not sure what the penalty applies to. I think it is almost the same as a negative level but I was hoping someone knew for sure. |
