Midian 07-15-05, 08:49 AM	i was flipping pages through frostburn, and the frostfolk caught my eye, i really like this race yet am not sure if there is an error in the description... the cr of a unimproved frostfolk is 2. the level adjustment is +1 the racial traits include +4 strength, +2 dex and -2 cha... it starts with 4 hd of monstrous humanoid, how can the LA only be +1 am i missing something here? or is the entire adjustment racial hd + la? I really dont know my preliminary thanks

I really dont know my preliminary thanks CR and ECL/LA represent two different things. CR represents how much of a challenge a creature is to a party of 4 adventurers. ie a creature that is only around for a few rounds of combat. ECL (=the creatures HD + it's LA) represents how good that creature is a a PC. ie a creature that is around all of the time. So to use your example, the frostfolk in question is a good challenge to a party of 4 2nd level characters. However, playing the frostfolk as a pc is equivalent to a pc of 5th level (4HD and +1 LA) Hope that helps, Gary
