| radu the wanderer04-01-04, 03:39 AM | Here's a fun NPC I whipped up for my home game... it requires you play a little fast and loose with some templates, but it netted a series of the most enjoyable RP experiences my game crew has had. Without further ado, here is Meigolos, a rather... unique... troll. Meigolos, Large Multiheaded (2) Half-Celestial/Half Dragon (Gold) Troll HD 8d12+80 (146 hp) Initiative: +7 (+3 Dex, +4 Improved Initiative) Large: -1 size AC, -1 size attacks, -4 size Sneak, +4 size grapple, lift/carry double Med Space/Reach: 10’/10’ Speed: 30’, fly 60’ (good) AC: 22 (-1 size, +3 Dex, +10 natural) BAB/Grapple: +6/+23 Attack: Claw +18 melee (1d6+13) Full Attack: 2 Claws +18 melee (1d6+13) and 2 bites +13 melee (1d8+7) SA: Breath Weapon (su), Daylight (su), Rend 2d6 +20 (ex), Smite Evil (su), Spell-like Abilities (sp), Superior Multi-attack (ex) SQ: Darkvision 90’ (ex), DR 5/magic (su), Immunities and Resistances (su), Low-light Vision (ex), Regeneration 5 (ex), Scent (ex), SR 18 (su) Saves: Fort +15, Ref +5, Will +4 Abilities: Str 36/+13, Dex 16/+3, Con 30/+10, Int 10/+0, Wis 14/+2, Cha 12/+1 Skills: Listen +15, Spot +15, Search +7, Climb +18, Jump +18, Diplomacy +8, Sense Motive +7, Swim +16, Intimidate +6 (+18) Feats: Combat Reflexes, Improved Initiative, Improved Scent, Inured to Energy (Acid), Uncanny Scent CR: 11 Alignment: Lawful Good Advancement: By Character Class, favored: Fighter Level Adjustment: +14 COMBAT Breath Weapon (Su): Meigolos can breathe a 30’ cone of flame as a standard action once per day from each head for 6d8 fire damage (Ref DC 24 ½). Daylight (Su): Meigolos can cast Daylight at will as an 8th level caster. Damage Reduction (Su): Meigolos has DR 5/magic. His natural weapons count as magic for purposes of countering damage reduction. Immunities and Resistances (Su): Meigolos is immune to Disease, Fire, Paralysis, and Sleep effects. He has Acid Resistance 20, Cold Resistance 10, Electricity Resistance 10, and has a +4 racial bonus to Fort saves against poison. Regeneration (Ex): Acid deals normal damage to Meigolos if it can bypass his resistance. Rend (Ex): If Meigolos hits with both claw attacks, he can rend, dealing an additional 2d6+20 damage as he rips his opponent to shreds. Smite Evil (Su): once per day Meigolos can make a Smite attack that deals an additional 8 damage against an evil opponent. Spell-Like Abilities (Sp): Meigolos can use the following spell-like abilities as an 8th level caster: 1/day: Aid, Bless, Cure Serious Wounds, Holy Smite, Neutralize Poison, Remove Disease, 3/day: Protection from Evil. Superior Two Weapon Fighting (Ex): Because each of his heads controls an arm, Meigolos does not take an attack or strength penalty when fighting with two weapons. Meigolos was the offspring of a powerful celestial troll and a dragon in my campaign. His backstory (short version) goes something like this: On the plane of Asgard, there exists a small clutch of celestial trolls, some of the fiercest protectors of that realm. These trolls are not as ugly or ill tempered as their prime material cousins, but nevertheless display a wicked temper, as my PC's found out when they happened across them. Long ago, a gold dragon named Thorassus was forced to flee the material and sought refuge on Asgard. The gods granted Thorassus his wish and assigned him to the care of the celestial troll brood. Taking a rather proactive approach, one of the brood led an assault on Thorassus' enemies and destroyed them. Thorassus was pleased, and decided to stay. In one of the most bizarre twists of fate ever, he and the Brood Mother Edra fell in love. Thorassus spent the remainder of his life polymorphed into troll shape, blending in with the Brood. Meigolos was the fruit of their union, but due to the proximity to the Tablet of Creation he possessed a most bizarre mutation: another head. The Brood was thrown into an uproar. Several powerful enemies of the Brood capitalized on this confusion and invaded, killing many trolls before they were beaten back. Among the dead was Edra. Thorassus left in disgust, taking Meigolos with him. Now Meigolos can be found acting as Thorassus' envoy throughout the Prime, building up enough strength to mount an assault on the home fortress of the fiends responsible for his mother's death. So... what do you all think? I know generally templates don't combine, but one of my players made this absolutely amazing sketch of a giant two headed dragon-angel thing so I had to stat it up. |
