Oakwood 07-27-04, 06:03 PM	I wanted to combine the natural armor and attacks of the epic verdant lord and the plant type of the lvl 10 verdant lord. I don't know what the level adjustment should be, or if there should be any ability modifiers. I was hoping for a level adjustment for less than or equal to +3. Comments are welcomed. Text in italics is flavor text. “Gaea-touched” is an acquired template that can be added to any humanoid creature (referred to hereafter as the base creature), provided it has an extremely powerful connection to nature. Only druids and very rarely priests of Obai-Hai with the plant domain have the necessary connection for this template to be applied. The servants of the earth mother are rewarded with extraordinary powers, but some times Gaea chooses true champions from amongst her loyal. Those chosen by Gaea are isolated; locked away in dense forests and begin to change as Gaea grants them her ultimate gift: the transformation into part of nature itself. A Gaea-touched has all the base creature's statistics and special abilities except as noted here. Size and Type: The creature's type changes to plant. Do not recalculate base attack bonus, saves, or skill points. Size is unchanged. The many years of isolation in Gaea's magically enchanted forests manipulate the devoteds' bodies, morphing their biology into that of a plant. Hit Dice: Change all current and future Hit Dice to d8s. Armor Class: The Gaea-touched has a +5 natural armor bonus or the base creature's natural armor bonus, whichever is better. Those touched by Gaea's grace are granted thick, bark-like skin that grants them additional protection. Feats: A Gaea-touched gains the multiattack feat for free. Natural Weapons: The Gaea-touched gains two natural melee attacks in the form of thick vines. Two thick vines sprout from the touched's back, one from each shoulder blade. The touched can manipulate these appendages with ease. Attack: A Gaea-touched can use one of its vines to make a standard attack. If a vine used in this manner hits, it inflicts 1d6 points of bludgeoning damage and can immediately make a grapple check without provoking an attack of opportunity. If the vine gets a hold, it constricts for 1d6 points of damage plus 1/2 times the verdant lord's Strength modifier each round the hold is maintained. Full Attack: A Gaea-touched fighting without weapons can use both of it's vine attacks as primary weapons. If armed with a weapon, the Gaea-touched can use its natural weapons as natural secondary attacks. Vines used in this manner cannot make constrict attempts. Damage: A Gaea-touched's vine attack inflicts 1d6 + strength bonus without weapons. A Gaea-touched who wields a weapon and makes a full attack with the vines suffers from a -5 penalty to attack roles (-2 with the multiattack feat) and applies only half the strength bonus to damage roles. Special Qualities: Plant traits – Immunity to all mind-affecting effects (charms, compulsions, phantasms, patterns, and morale effects). Immunity to poison, sleep effects, paralysis, polymorph, and stunning. Not subject to critical hits. Low-light vision. Vulnerability to fire – A Gaea-touched takes double damage from fire. If a saving throw is allowed and a Gaea-touched succeeds on that throw, he takes half damage. If he fails, he takes double damage. Abilities: +? Strength, +? Constitution, +? Wisdom. Skills: Gaea-touched have a +8 racial bonus on hide checks made in forested terrain. Otherwise the same as the base creature. Level Adjustment: Same as the base creature +?.

Wickerbull 07-28-04, 06:20 PM	Pretty neat idea. I like the plant type. I'd beef up the wisdom bonuses, maybe to +4. LA +2 sounds good. I think that allowing them the ability to constrict even when they use their vines as secondary attacks is feasible, and I think it would just be cooler. They could constrict a couple characters while hitting some more with magic.
