Cult of the Destroyer [Archive] - Wizards Community

03-23-08, 01:59 AM Now, I know there are a few Rokugan haters in here, but I have an honest question: In Rokugan, during the War of the Lying Darkness, how does one bring characters of various clans together. The Scorpion are banished (I believe), the Dragon are corrupted by Hitomi's dark influences, Crab are busy repelling Oni; and so on and so forth.

How do I get level 1s together, allowing them to be diverse, and serve under one lord?
In the very first adventure in Hidden Emperor's campaign Cult of the Destroyer, The players have to be at least level 5, and the "Read aloud to the players" states the PCs are serving under one lord, or one PC who is serving under a lord.

The campaign gives advice in certain situations if a PC is of a certain clan at the time, but if the PCs are of different clans..?

04-01-08, 06:42 PM Hmm, still a tough connundrum I'm considering. Now, I've added in PHB races to the mix (altering Rokugan, YES, ALTERING ROKUGAN!).
With the PHB and OA races inhabiting the land along with the heimin, Nezumi, Naga, and Oni, prior to the Fall of the Kami.
The difference is that the other races are considered part of the celestial order, and thus respected, more so than the eta class.

The Elves inhabit what is part of Crane, Phoenix, and Shadowlands territory (hence Drow), Dwarves live in the mountains by the Kaiu Wall, the Unicorn brought Half-Orcs with them from the Burning Sands, Korobokuro are the Yobanjin Tribes to the North, Gnomes inhabit the Dragon Mountains (practicing Niten fencing with wakizashi and tanto), and Halflings scour Rokugan in service of the Mantis and the Scorpion. Vanara live in balance in Shinomen Forest, keeping the Nezumi and Naga in their places. And Spirit Folk run rampant throughout Rokugan.

I'm ruling it that the Elves were the precursors to the Kakita Dueling Academy, wielding Masterwork Chinese-style weapons (jian and eventually moving to tachi and then katana) and also helped the Phoenix in their governing style; the Elves had their own Masters of the Elements.

Thus I can get my most stubborn players into it (hopefully). I just wonder to what degree I can have so many races bursting throughout Rokugan without the players asking, "Why don't the Elves just take over the Empire?" Or something like that.
