Customizing a Summon Monster List for Oriental [Archive] - Wizards Community

12-05-07, 08:58 PM So I'm playing a Wizard/Warmage for an Oriental Gestalt game that my DM is running. He's allowed me to make a customized Summon Monster list for the game but I've found out that around Summon Monster VI I'm running out of monsters for the list theme to use.
The summoning theme I'd like to use is creatures with the (Spirit) tag. Does anyone know any other creatures that would fit this theme?

12-08-07, 04:21 PM What I've noticed, if you use only OA, you will run out of monsters quickly. I'd ask your Dm what monster books he plans to use and work with him to see what other monsters you can use. I'm making an OA themed campaign and I've decided to include as many books as possible and narrow the list from that. The majority of monsters will be from OA but to add variety I'm including other books and picking and choosing.

12-09-07, 03:28 PM First thing would be to go with the customizable summoning lists, I'd take the Unearthed Arcana version for it. For a "good" character, either use the Celestial template or the Foo template that's out there somewhere and make liberal use of it with your picks. One of the summoning handbooks has the Dragon list of CR's that are appropriate for which summon spell.
