Is OA still in print? [Archive] - Wizards Community

03-20-07, 03:27 PM I haven't seen it though the place whare I get my D&D books is ok but not the best I think (Game's Workshop).

So did they stop making them or have I just not been lucky, If it has been pulled off the press dose anyone know how I can get a copy. (Besides online retail I'm not confertable using that kind of stuff.)

Have you tried bookstores? Secondhand bookstores (where they sell used books)?

Have you tried to place an order? Most FLGS and bookstores are willing to do that.

Although it is not still being printed, and I know of no plans to reprint it, I believe that it is not "sold out", and that many copies still exist in distributor's warehouses and possably even at the warehouse at WotC, so if a store were to place an order for it I do believe that order could be filled.

That said, I have had great success buying books from a handful of online stores (both RPG and non-fiction, both new and used), and recommend it if you can find the means (Credit cards or check cards are usually required and such). I could privately share which sites I have dealt with, and how things went.

Lastly, I make my standard offer: if I can obtain something where I am that you cannot get where you are, I will buy it for you and ship it to you for the cost of the product (and tax) and the cost of shipping. The way that works is I give you my address, you mail me a check, and when the check clears I drop the book in the mail. My bank assures me foreign funds are no problem. I realize this is not an ideal system (among other flaws you have to trust me to not just steal your money), but for occasional rare and out-of-print products that turned up in the discount bin at my FLGS it has proven worthwile to a few folks.
I will do this for any gamer anywhere.

And thank you for the offer but it's unlikely sorry. Don't take it the wrong way you are probably sincere about it, it's just I have very slight paranoia about that stuff.:shifty:

That and the fact that things I order get lost in the mail alot. (Curse you Snail Mailtm!!!!!):tantrum:

I've had a fairly good run with the used sellers through Amazon. I got my Call of Cthulhu d20 book from them fairly quickly and cheaply, and in excellent condition, and only had problems with a single seller prior.

Much more enjoyable than Ebay.

Does eBay accept paper check/money order payment? What kind of consumer protection service do I have there?

Most personal sellers on Ebay will take a bank check or money order prior to the shipment of a recently won bid, and that's at least how I would pay -- its just safer. Other, "business" sellers usually only take the hated Paypal as a form of payment.

I've run into Ebay having a "you're on your own" consumer protection service, where other than outright scams (Xbox 360 fiasco), Ebay doesn't really do much about getting screwed out of a book you thought was in better condition, shipping speed, customer service, etc. I believe that refunds are up to the seller and the buyer to negotiate seperately, and may not be wholly mandated by the Ebay license.

About all you can do is give the guy negative feedback. :mad:

03-22-07, 12:18 AM I'll chime in with support for the Amazon marketplace. I recently bought copies of the Moldvay/Cook B/X books from them pretty cheap, and they made it all the way to Japan in a week (pretty good). You'll likely need a credit card if like me you live outside the U.S., though if you and the seller are both in the U.S. you could likely send them a check instead.

Otherwise, I'd have to walk farther to the nearest USPO.

03-22-07, 06:50 AM I was surprised when I went to a gaming shop over here in the UK (London) just last summer and they still had plenty of copies of Oriental Adventures, Arms & Equipment Guide (I still think they were high when they wrote this one), Ghostwalk and all of the 3.0 splats (Sword and Fist etc).

If they have them over here in Limey Land, I'm sure they're still easy to find in Yankville.

Go to Sentry Box, it's at 1835 - 10th Ave SW, not too far from where Bow Trail becomes two bridges that head into and out of the city center. It's a nice big building with a nice big sign on it so it's hard to miss if your looking for it. As far as I know, they have all 3rd edition books in store and not a bad selection of older ones.
