Korean Names? Thai Names? Mongol Names? [Archive] - Wizards Community

Nobility:
Korean titles of nobilty were similar to those in China, with ranks descending by one degree with each succeeding holder of the title. There were seven main grades as follows:
1) Gun: Prince.
2) Kung: Duke.
3) Champan: Marquis.
4) Poguk: Count.
5) Pansoh: Viscount.
6) Chamise: Baron.
7) Chusa: no Western equivalent, but somewhat similar to the British title of Baronet.

07-08-07, 08:05 PM I posted in a thread a long time ago about some names for character classes in Korean. Maybe it hasn't been pruned. I'll take a look for it, and if I can't find it I'll see if I've still got the list saved on my computer at home.

07-08-07, 08:28 PM Find a Thai to English Dictionary for this one ( I have one here but it would take to long to post all the relevant information). Thailand (southeast asia in general) is a great source of campaign ideas. Definately read up on Thai history and maybe watch a documentary or two for the unique artwork and architecture. In terms of names I can give you some here:

Forms of address:
(Thai language is very hierarchical and people are addressed based on age or status)

Kru- Teacher
Pii- Prefix for elders (i.e. Pii Ong)
Nong- Prefix for younger people (i.e. Nong Pung)

Male Names:
Ong
Ot
Somchai
Aroon
Amorn
Tito
B'Nai
Doo'

Female:
Supaporn
Pung
Sunee
Goi
Anoma
Pranee
Tussanee
Kanya

Lastnames:
Phongtong

Nicknames:

Thai people often have nick names that they use more frequently than their real names. These will be in thai but usually just indicate an animal (i.e. Gai=chicken, Goong=Shrimp, Moo= Pig).
