does anyone else here know what Kamigawa is? It was a Magic the Gathering expansion. And I was wanting to run a campaign set in that plane, some of my players have been wanting to run an oriental campaign and if I use this world alot of it's already made for me.

These are the racial stats I came up with, let me know if they are more powerful than the others.

Kitsune

+2 Dex
+2 Wis
-2 Str
-2 Con

3/day: Can grant allies within a 5 foot radius DR 3/- until end of turn, and can be used as though it were quickened.

+1 Bonus on all Wisdom related skills

Medium Humaniod
Base Speed: 30ft.
Languages: Common, Kitsay
Favored Class: Spirit Shaman
Level Adjustment: +0

Akki

+2 Dex
-2 Cha
-2 Int

Small Size: +1 bonus to AC, attack rolls, +4 bonus on hide checks, -4 penalty on grapple checks, lifting and carrying limits 3/4 those of medium characters.

+4 racial bonus to Climb, +2 racial bonus on Move Silently, and Intimidate

Can always take a 10 on climb checks, even if rushed or threatened.

Holler: As a full round action, an Akki can let out a loud bellow alerting other Akki in the general area. Akki within 200 feet can hear the Holler, and 1d2 Akki move as quickly as possible to get to the intended location. For each extra 50 feet the Akki have to move delays them for another round.
Once the Akki get to the Akki that Hollered they may help in whatever task you need, if they are within 1 step of your alignment. If they are futher then 1 step they are hostile to you.

Small Humanoid (Goblinoid)
Languages: Goblin, Common (only if Int is 12 or more)
Favored Class: Barbarian
Level Adjustment: +0

Soratami

-2 Str
-2 Con
+2 Int
+2 Cha
+2 racial bonus to Diplomacy, Knowledge: Arcana, Sense Motive

2/day: Can cast Fly (self only, 10 min. duration).

Medium HumanoidLanguages: Common, Sora
Favored Class: Wu-Jen
Level Adjustment: +0

Orochi

+2 Dex
-2 Cha

Poisen Use

+2 racial bonus on Move Silently, Hide, and Survival checks.

The cleric spell-list is prohibited by all Orochi.

Medium Humanoid
Languages: Common, Sylvan
Favored Class: Ranger, Monk

And for the Nezumi i'll be using the stats from OA.

Out of all these races I like the Akki stats best, just because using their Holler ability is risky (if the called akki is hostile, they can holler for help too).

And i'm pretty happy with the Kitsune, but... do you think all the stats are balanced?

perhaps alot of kamigawa cards could inspire new feat, spells or abilities.
Ex: red akki samurai card: as a feat this could allow akki to freely multiclass into samurai with no xp penalty

also i find that Rokugan L5R d20 is a very nice system for oriental games. at least is nice to mix into DnD OA. the ninja class in rokugan is very nice.

I wish i could use the Rokugan, but none of us have a single dollar, and the campaign needs to be ready for monday...

But, Does anyone think the racial stats are balanced?

I really need some constructive critisism soon, I have to be ready on Monday...

Yeah, why not try modelling the Orochi after Thri-Kreen? Poison bite, multiple arms...it fits quite well - just change the fluff and some of the other abilities and you have quite a snug fit.

I really liked kamigawa, that was a neat set.

Good luck putting that together, what you've got so far, looks balanced to me.

Yeah, but it was utterly useless outside of itself. If they introduced rules that instants and sorceries were considered "arcane" for the purposes of the card-effects, that would make it a little bit easier. As it is, I have a hell of a time trying to stand up against my friends with my Savior's deck in one-on-one battles. I need to feed off myself - if I ever got ahold of another person playing with Spirits, my life would be through the roof.

I just use some of the legendary creatures from it, I play black and most black sorceries and instants (at least around that time) sucked. But then I'm one of those people that still plays with 4 demonic tutors.

This sounds like a great idea. Please include Spirit Folk as they would present incredible roll play opportunity for a kind of charicter that is caught between two worlds. I personally would love to see more kinds of Spirit Folk, such as Ghost touched (Chineese legends tell of ghosts of young maidens who can not rest because they were never wed, what if one wanted to be a mother too, and the family that was haunted finds a child near the ancestoral shrine a few days later.) And we have River, Sea, and Bamboo, why not Fire or Stone children, with an elemental Kami as the parent there. That said I'm not sure you would want the children sired by those under Oni possesion but that could make for a great back story too.

One thought that I had was to have all spells have an emotional component. In order to cast a fireball you would need to be in a "Red" state of mind - passionate and or angry. The same would go for techniques from The Book of the Nine Swords. You could give bonuses if the spell was also the color of your race, and or allignment. Akki & Ogers would have facility with red spells, Kitsune with White, Orachi with Green, Moonfolk with blue. That said if an emotional situation becomes too much of a given color as far as emotons go that can cause a wall breach allowing a spirit of the appropriate color through.

If people are fighting too much or a bar brawl gets too out of hand a kami of drunken chaos could breach the wall between worlds. If the rules are being followed to the letter with no room for interpretation or humanity a kami of stifeling order will come through. How does this sound?
