| Count Arioch the 28th04-29-07, 03:38 AM | I have deleted these classes from the boards, the new CoC says that WotC owns anything you post on the forums, and I'm taking my crap back now, they can keep their grabby hands off my creations. See my classes either on Nifty or D&Dbabes |
| Lord Gwydion04-29-07, 08:26 PM | Hey Count Arioch, just wanted to say welcome back to the OA boards. Hope you don't find us so disagreeable this time. :D I like what you did with the Samurai here, trying to de-Rokuganize it and make it a more generic, but still useful class (for people not using Tome of Battle, apparently...I still need to look over that one). |
| SokenzanMarauder04-29-07, 09:17 PM | Very nice. I've only got one little gripe (and it's a nitpick thing). The Staredown ability, personally I think it should be a 30" cone instead of a 30" radius. I know D&D doesn't have facing but it's kinda wonky if he can stare in a 360 degree radius. Aside from that, very solid class, I particularly like the removal of Iaijutsu Focus, I always thought it was a bit too powerful for a skill, not to mention it's cross-class for almost every class. Cheers, -Gene |
| Deper05-02-07, 02:56 PM | Nice class! A good combination of the two most polarizing takes on the samurai out there. I'm afraid I'm going to have to steal this for my game. Sorry. |
| Acedykstra05-13-07, 10:21 AM | The only thing about this class that I am not too fond of is the exessive amount of feats. He gets nine bonus feats (not including the ones you gain every 3 lvls) That is only 2 less than the fighter gets, plus the Samurai special abilities, you have no reason to be a fighter... I just think it could use some balancing in that department. Maybe a bonus feat every 4 lvls (and not one at level 2)... that would cut 4 bonus feats and balance him just a little bit more. |
| Count Arioch the 28th05-13-07, 10:37 AM | you have no reason to be a fighter... You already have no reason to be a fighter, my class changes nothing. Seriously, if your judgement of balance is "Is it stronger than a fighter", then the only classes allowd are Fighter, Paladin, and Monk. Every other class is already better than a fighter. |
| Acedykstra05-13-07, 02:09 PM | What I am talking about is the fact that the whole purpose of being a fighter is the number of feats you get... it is his unique quality. Other classes dont recieve as many because they have unique abilities INSTEAD. If you want lots of feats, you should have to be (or at least take levels in) a fighter. Otherwise, why be a fighter? Take levels in your samurai class, and you get the feats, and other unique abilities... Thats what Im talking about. Oh and also, I never used the quote, "stronger than a fighter"... I would appreciate it if you would not mis-represent what I say. |
| Count Arioch the 28th05-13-07, 05:02 PM | If you want lots of feats, you should have to be (or at least take levels in) a fighter. Otherwise, why be a fighter? Take levels in your samurai class, and you get the feats, and other unique abilities... Have you not read the OA books? Let me clue you in: Samurai bonus feat lists are highly limited. A fighter's bonus feat lis is not. I feel that having a very limited bonus feat selection combined with fewer feats justifies the unique special abilities. Now, if my class gave fighter bonus feats, I'd be inclined to listen to what you are saying. However, this class does not grant one single fighter bonus feat, nor does it allow Greater Weapon Specialization, or weapon supremacy, or other high-end fighter only feat, you still need fighter or warblade levels for that. |
| Count Arioch the 28th08-26-07, 05:27 PM | Bump so everyone can read the first post, word needs to get out. |
