| RoyalBlueEyes04-27-08, 09:05 AM | I started playing this again last night (pulled the old PS2 out, and started a new SWXL game) and I thought to myself, "This is a lot like DnD! I kill people, collect weapons and items, and level up!" Remember that Rokugan game I'm always talking about (well, I've got to wait for May to roll around and everyone not to be busy), the unique variety of weapons really catches me as intriguing, and the items, I figure, could be assigned body slots and made into magical items. Anyone want to help? One of the problems I figure I'll encounter is that some of the items (Himiko's Runes) don't exactly translate well into wearable items. Where exactly would you put a scroll of runes that gave you AC? Then some items, like the Horse Staff, would be hard to implement because it's a staff, and it provides to your mounted attack. Any ideas or suggestions? |

Have them give an unstackable AC bonus (like armor or deflection, depending on whom it's for), and adjust the price accordingly. However, wouldn't it be more interesting to make the defensive scroll more than an AC boost? Say, a permanent protection from arrows or entropic shield, for example? And about the staff: What's wrong with having a staff that gets an additional bonus from horseback? Or lets you do a free bull rush attempt when you charge on horseback (check out the clouting ability from CA, make it something like that)? I don't know what you want the staff to do, but using a staff mounted is absolutely fine. Hope it helps. -Cherubaddon |

You can probably have it all crinkled up in your backpack and still have the AC bonus or the protection from arrows, or whatnot. If that's the case, then again, like all of the items in the MIC, it'll be a must have item PCs will whine if they can't start off with. As for the staff, it's more a symbol. In the games, you have your character's specific weapon. If a PC wants to emulate that, he will have to choose the staff or his weapon because IIRC it is a harder ride check if both hands are occupied. Anyway, I appreciate bouncing ideas off of you. |

As for the staff, don't be afraid to take some liberties with items and have them function slightly differently. Whats important is keeping the theme, not adhering 100% to how it functions in the game. D&D functions far different from the game, so it'll be impossible anyway. Make the staff command word activated or something, that way you can just have it tucked in your belt, say the word, and ride off with your favorite weapon at the ready. |
