Hey all. I like the tamer of beasts as a concept, but felt it needed a rework. Lemme know what you think.
----
Tamer of Beasts
Requirements: Animal Companion as a class ability, Animal Empathy, Skill Focus (Handle Animal), Handle Animal 8 ranks, Knowledge (Nature) 8 ranks, Survival 4 ranks
HD: d8

SKILLS
class skills: Climb (Str), Dimplomacy (cha), Handle Animal (Cha), Heal (Wis), Hide (Dex), Jump (Str), Knowledge (geography) (Int), Knowledge (nature) (Int), Listen (Wis), Move Silently (Dex), Profession (Wis), Ride (Dex), Search (Int), Spot (Wis), Survival (Wis), Swim (Str), and Use Rope (Dex)
Skills per level: 4+ Int modifier

L BAB FORT REF WILL ABILITES
1. +0 +2 +0 +2 Improved Wild Empathy, Rebuke Animal, Animal Companion
2. +1 +3 +0 +3 Control Swarms, +1 spellcaster level
3. +2 +3 +1 +3 Additional Animal Companion, Animal Speech
4. +3 +4 +1 +4 Multiple Swarms, +1 spellcaster level
5. +3 +4 +1 +4 Additional Animal Companion, rebuke Magical Beast

Improved Wild Empathy (Ex) - gain a bonus to all handle animal checks equal to your tamer of beasts class level. This stacks with the normal wild empathy bonus.
Rebuke Animal (Su) - you may rebuke/control normal animals as a normal cleric rebukes/controls undead. You turn as a cleric equal to your character level. You may rebuke/control animals a number of times per day equal to 3 plus your charisma modifier.
Animal Companion (Ex) - Your ranger, druid, and tamer of beasts levels stack for determining the strength of your animal companions.
Control Swarms (Ex) - You may make Handle Animal checks to control a swarm (real or summoned) as if it were your animal companion. This check does not disrupt your concentration on the Summon Swarm spell.
Additional Animal Companion (Ex) - at level 3 you gain an additional animal companion. You are treated as 3 levels lower for the purposed of the advanceent of this animal companion. AT level 5, you gain a third animal companion. You are treated as 6 levels lower for the purposed of the advanceent of this animal companion.
Multiple Swarms (Su) - you may maintain concentration on up to 2 Summon Swarm spells. Casting a second summon swarm does not interrupt concentration on the first swarm.
Rebuke Magical Beast (Su) - you may rebuke/control magical beasts as a normal cleric rebukes/controls undead. You turn as a cleric equal to your character level. You may rebuke/control magical beasts a number of times per day equal to 3 plus your charisma modifier.

The Beastmaster in CAdv is the 3.5 official Tamer of Beasts conversion.

Not sure if you realized that.

What's with the Swarm stuff? I don't remember if either Tamer of Beasts or Beastmaster has any class features that deal with Swarms.

I would say to leave that as an alternate class feature, rather than a base class feature that some people might not want to use at all.

3.0 you could command up to your hit dice in creatures, effectively creating a small swarm. I opted to have the class ahve better control over summonable swarms to help represent that.

I don’t know how this would work but it’s been floating around in my head for some time. What if you allowed the Tamer of Beasts to have any number of animal companions? There total HD couldn’t exceed the druid’s normal amount. For example, a druid 10/ ToB 5 could have say 15 1 HD animal companions or say one 8 HD/ 2 3 HD and one 1 HD animal companion. Make sense just a thought. :)
