| GAMBLE_d1306-30-07, 01:50 AM | Hey guys, I've been wanting to play a cLeric for a while now, but can't get a good build that maintains a flavour I'm happy with. I prefer Self-buffing Combat Oriented spells, with little to no visual effects (growing to twice your size is a no no, but gaining anhanced Str, Hp's, and Attack Bonus, is cool). When I do use spells that have visual effects I prefer Spiritual/Mystical type effects. Other than this the Cleric would look and act much like a Paladin (infact I'm thinking of taking 4 Pal levels). So, what I'm after is a good PrC for a Warrior-Preist, that doesn't sacrifice Spellcasting, and has atleast medium BAB. Anyone know of any good ones? Cheers. PS: I have access to most books, so a wide range of options is welcome. |
| Salla06-30-07, 01:57 AM | Why not just be a Cleric? The only Cleric PrC (that I can think of) that might fit those criteria is the Radiant Servant of Pelor, and it's far more of a healer than a beatstick. |
| calronmoonflower06-30-07, 02:23 AM | War Priest from Complete Divine |
| Dark1ord06-30-07, 07:04 AM | War Priest from Complete Divine 5/10 spellcasting progression... not so good. I think some people would suggest looking at stuff like prestige paladin and sacred fist (with the "text trumphs table" reading, yielding full spellcasting progression). hm, maybe knight of the raven too. |
| GAMBLE_d1306-30-07, 11:14 AM | Thanks for the replies... To answer one, the problem I have with straight cleric is they gain no Class abilities other than turn/rebuke undead, and spells, since PrC can provide Spells and the only thing I really use Turning for is DMMF's I see no point. I really liked the Hospitaler from 3.0 but they caught that one in the revised edition and blew it out of the water. Regarding, Knights of the Raven (?), in what book can I find that? |
| Jaxgaret06-30-07, 02:35 PM | A Cleric/Paladin going into Fist of Raziel might be what you are looking for. It's in the BoED. |
| The_Shaman06-30-07, 03:48 PM | I really liked the Hospitaler from 3.0 but they caught that one in the revised edition and blew it out of the water. 8/10 progression and full BAB? Doesn't sound half-bad, really. FoR is also great if you are exalted, sure. |
| Dark1ord07-01-07, 12:00 PM | Regarding, Knights of the Raven (?), in what book can I find that? expedition to castle ravenloft. |
| Twylyght07-01-07, 01:16 PM | Well it had the reduced casting too, but there was the Mighty Contender of Kord back in Dragon #283 that did some crazy stuff with the strength domain. |
| StevenO07-01-07, 07:31 PM | There are plenty of divine PrCs that grant full spellcasting and 3/4 BAB which shouldn't be so surprising as that is what the cleric gets. The maximum spellcasting with a full BAB is the Hospitaler which doesn't lose much spellcasting. If you can swing it one of my favorite PrCs is the Sacred Exorcist; 3/4 BAB and full spellcasting along with a number of abilities that really help when fighting the worst of evil. |
| Endarrion07-01-07, 07:42 PM | Cast Righteous Might (in the PHB) and laugh at everything that the DM throws at you. |
| AllWillFall2Me07-02-07, 02:32 AM | Another option: The Ordained Champion, from Complete Champion. Fluffwise, it's Hextor or Heironeus only, but it's 5 levels, only drops 2 spellcasting, full BAB, and is pretty much pure Warrior Priest synergy. |
| The_Shaman07-02-07, 07:26 AM | 3/5 progression? Ugh. Grey Hand Enforcer (City of Splendors) and Sanctified Mind (Lords of Madness) lose 1 caster level for 5 and 6 levels, respectively. |
| Dark1ord07-02-07, 07:28 AM | Cast Righteous Might (in the PHB) and laugh at everything that the DM throws at you. *cough* divine power will let you laugh earlier. really, you should've used that one instead. ;) |
| Aage07-02-07, 08:31 AM | Warrior Priest you say? If you the Tome of Battle, take a look at 'ruby knight vindicator'... |
