OK so after the advice that ive gotten so far ive decided to abandon the spellthief/shadowdancer. what im looking for now is a character who can basically strike from the shadows- and i mean that in a literal sense i want some kind of shadowplane shifting thing going here- doesnt have to do alot of hp damage i was thinking about spending buttloads of money on some kind of strength or con sapping weapon, and then vanish right back into the shadows before im noticed. what should i shoot for?? race? class? prestige? or just full on one race one class thats it?? preciate everybody being so patient. yep.

Well if you have access to MoI, then shadow soul is pretty good.

If you can get your hands on ToM, then the shadow caster section is chalk full of shadowy goodness.

Magic of Incarnum; I don't have that so I can't vouch for it. There should be a thread with the important topics, I think you might want to check it for the lists of abbreviations, classes and PrCs if you have a free hour or so.

You could look at the Ninja and Ghost Faced Killer classes from Complete Adventurer. They might have a flavor that fits what you want.
