Draxo 03-17-07, 09:27 AM	Hey, i was making an Abjurant Champion character, and i ran into a hitch. The prestige class adds its level to Abjurations that grant an armor or shield bonus to AC. The sample NPC AbC even has mage armor cast, and adds his AbC level to mage armor AC. However i ran into a problem. Mage armor is conjuration, not Abjuration. So.. did wotc just make a glaring blooper or..? It means that its class features dont really.. work.. i mean. Its entire class seems to revolve around buffing your mage armor and shield spells. Yet Mage Armor doenst work with it by the rules. Is there any official ruling that states they do add mage armor to AC?
prophet224 03-17-07, 11:59 AM	I have to say, I'd love to hear what the official answer is to this. I mean, the example character given in the book doesn't even have shield on his spell list! Meanwhile, he's using a non-abjuration spell (mage armor) as if his class abilities applied to it. I don't know what to say about that, but it doesn't make any sense. I know alot of people are using and talking about the class, but we definately need some clarification here.
calronmoonflower 03-17-07, 01:30 PM	The Spell Compendium has a spell of the adjuration type that grants a AC bonus. I remember this because it was asked in the Ask Wizards column. I cannot remember where I saw it, but I remember reading something about a abjurer learning non-abjuration spells as a abjuration spell. Also I looked up the domain wizard and they have shield as a domain spell.
The_Shaman 03-17-07, 01:58 PM	Sorry, afaik there is no errata on the Mage Armor issue and without SC you only get the +1-5 bonus to your Shield spell. It could be worse.
prophet224 03-17-07, 02:07 PM	As far as the Domain Wizard, that's not a problem. The shield spell is definately abjuration. It's mage armor that is a question. I looked through the spell compendium, and the only Sorc/Wiz spell that is Abj and grants an AC bonus is [I]Ectoplasmic Armor[I], but the bonus only counts against incorporeal touch attacks. Oh... there is also Antidragon Aura, but that only counts against dragons.
