Greetings!

I can't seem to get the Search function to work, so if the answer to this is easily found there, then I apologize.

I assume the answer to this is No, but just figured i'd poll the collective wisdom of the boards.

Abjurant Champion gets class level to abjuration effects that grant armor bonuses.

Mass Mage Armor grants an armor bonus.

the AbC gets the class bonus for himself, but would the others who get the spell receive the bonus as well?
Again- I assume No.. but i figured i'd ask.

Depends on whether Mass Mage Armor is an abjuration spell or not. I believe Mage Armor is a conjuration spell. So I'm presuming Mass Mage Armor is also conjuration. As such, Mage Armor and Mass Mage Armor does not get the benefit of the Abjurant Champion ability.

See the Complete Mage errata that clarifies this issue.

As a side note-

i find it interesting that they would errata the class in such way as is counter to nearly every DM i've talked to about it.

ahh well.

Thanks for the input :)

guess more mages need to go research Abjuration based armor spells.

For the record, I am one DM who does not rule counter to the errata, and have done so since I first encountered the Abjurant Champion and this question about Mage Armor + Abjurant Armor.

So Jax, you don't allow it to affect mage armor? Good, neither do I.

Those abj spells that grant an armor bonus: Luminous and Greater Luminous Armor from BoED.

Correct.

Good, neither do I.

Huzzah.

Those abj spells that grant an armor bonus: Luminous and Greater Luminous Armor from BoED.

Here are some other spells that work with Abjurant Armor:

-repelling shield (CM)
-deflect & lesser deflect (PHB2)
-ectoplasmic armor (SC)

Neither do I.

Realistically, in addition to full BAB and casting and d10 hit dice, they can cast Shield for +9 AC as a swift action! That's plenty good. They don't need it on mage armor too.
