| mypetrock08-04-07, 01:34 AM | I started a thread (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=894821) on the main class forum where it was promptly buries. My original post contains three essential questions: 1) Does the adaptation of Unseen Seer for illusions make sense? 2) Would you change in addition the class features of Guarded Mind and Still Spell? 3) Is an illusion-based Unseen Seer going to be stronger than a divination-based Unseen Seer? I guess my answer to Question #3 is that an illusion based Unseen Seer would be stronger than a Divination based unseen seer as there are illusions that actually do damage. From Phantasmal Killer to Shadow Summons illusions are generally stronger than Divination spells of the same level. Granted there are some RP applications for the Divination spells, but the Illusion spells are just that more powerful. The character that I have in mind is a Changeling Rogue3 using the Changeling Rogue substitution levels. I'm planning on picking up a level or two of Beguiler for access to trapfinding and then a couple of levels of Unseen Seer and Chameleon. I'd prefer the version of Unseen Seer that is adapted for illusion, but either would work. mypetrock |

Hence, something that changed the focus to another (presumably stronger) school would be more powerful, hence less balanced. Just 2 cents. |

All they suggest is that you change the prereqs (from divination to illusion presumably) and the Spell Power feature. Illusion is stronger than divination, in a way. In offence and defense, its pretty damn good. But when it comes to less combat-oriented situations, finding things out, solving problems, divination is it. I think that the result of switching is that is changes a lot of the flavor of the class, but the result would still not be overpowered. |
