I have been trying to decide if the Spirit Shaman's "Chastise Spirits" ability could be used as a substitute for PrC that require "Turn/Rebuke Undead".

What do people think....is this a "fair" substitution ???

No.

Just no.

Eh, I don't really see any reason why not... It's not horribly game breaking in any way I can see at the moment, but it's possible that Chastise Spirits might not work with certain PrCs.

Edit: Whoops, reread the OP. Rebuke Undead? I don't think so. Turn Undead, sure, but not Rebuke by a long shot..

Not sure what you mean ???

If Turn and rebuke are equal......why one and not the other ???

Although almost all PrC are worded "Turn".......
What I was looking to do was Spirit Shaman, and Master of Shrouds (the two fit well "flavor" wise)......:D

Actually, now that I look at the OP again, I realize that they weren't asking if they could use Chastise Spirits uses to fuel Divine feats, but only about meeting PrC requirements.

That actually may make for a decent houserule, especially in campaigns that have banned Clerics but allowed Spirit Shamans. The "Spirits" category does include all Incorporeal Undead. I agree with the other poster that it should only be allowed to replicate Turn Undead for meeting class reqs.

You would have to make adjustments to the PrCs themselves, though. Anything that normally says it effects Undead would have to be changed to effecting only Spirits.

Because Chastise Spirits only deals damage to Spirits; it cannot be used to command them.

Turn Undead deals damage to Undead; Rebuke Undead is used to command them.

Ahhh....GOT YA.

Like I said....I'm just looking at "Chastise" meeting Turn requirement for PrC classes.....it was either that, or trade out the chastise ability for normal turning.
