I'm about to post my new Barbarian/Druid Prestige class that's all about the Animal Companion feature. I'm afraid that I will get too much criticizing and need to do some comparing first.

Do you guys have any similar PrCs to recommend that have been posted on these boards? I've looked at the few available in books, but they're boring.

Beastmaster in the complete adventurer is the most obvious and best to use in comparison to your own.

The first prestige class I posted on these boards was an animal-companion- and archery-focused Ranger class: The Feral-heart Marksman (http://boards1.wizards.com/leaving.php?destination=http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php%3Fp%3D10933218). Since it's the first one I did, it may not be the best, but I still like it (though if I get time and inclination I would like to revise it again). I actually started playing it in a campaign, but the game only lasted a few more sessions before it cut off early.

The CAdv Animal Lord is imo pretty decent, although you may lose most of your druidic goodness. Remember, Druid is itself more powerful than most PrCs.

Animal Lord is definately one of my favorites. Especially since it adds to your effective druid level directly instead of adding to your ranger levels which get halved for your druid level. You can invariably get into the class by ranger level 6 and with Natural bond you can get full Bab with full animal companion progression to level 16. After that I haven't found a good choice to continue with.

1 level of beastmaster can help for an effective +4 to druid level. Alternatively, you can just choose whichever you like... I think something with quick and decent benefits like Nentyar Hunter and its spellcasting progression can be good for you.

Thank you all for the info, now I know what I'm up against. I'm still confident that the barbarian mixed with animal companion will be unique enough to be interesting.

I found that my last challenge is formatting the code for the class' table. And the link to how to do so isn't working. Are there any other options for me to research, any examples I can copy and paste and then edit?

BTW, I'm sure I remember a feat that allowed the animal companion to rage when you do. Any idea where it is from?

In Dungeonscape there is the Beast Heart Adept where all its abilities are on its companions.
