Blood_Serpent 04-13-07, 05:54 PM	One of the requirements for taking levels in the Apostle of Peace prestige class (BoED p51) is that you have to take the Vow of Poverty feat (BoED p48) which says you cannot use or own magic items. However the book later says (on page 52) that an Apostle of Peace "may wear magic items that protect them (such as a ring of protection or bracers of armor)" what is the real ruling with this? can i take the feat and then lose it after i take the first level of the class by wearing magic items? or did they just put that in the book to tease us?

You can the benefit of using worn magic items only that give protection. Like Bracers of armor, rings of protection, and cloak of displacement? You can benefit from worn magic items, sure, but you could do that before. The problem is, you can't OWN them by defination of the vow of poverty feat. You'd have to give them away if you found them, and you wouldn't have any money to buy them with.

Jaxgaret 04-13-07, 07:32 PM	Something is incorrect here. Either Vow of Poverty shouldn't be a requirement of the AoP, or the entry saying that AoPs can wear protective magical items is wrong.

JulesCARV 04-13-07, 11:38 PM	There should be an "eschew divine focus" feat. Well, there is one in Faiths of Eberron, I suppose, albeit Sovereign Host specific, but back to the question... The real answer is that BoED was sloppily edited, but taking it for its word, I suppose that the only real application of the text is if you have Vow of Poverty, you violate your vow, losing the benefits, but you still have the Vow of Poverty feat (which you no longer benefit from, but still have). If one considers a violated Vow feat to still meet the requirements of the Apostle of Peace, then you might wear protective magical items.

This combined with the bit in the AoP entry about wearing magical protections leads me to lean towards thinking that VoP shouldn't be one of the requirements for the Apostle. But I would definitely replace it with another Exalted feat. Perhaps they meant it to be Vow of Purity, but there was a mix-up somewhere along the line and it was changed to Vow of Poverty.
