| Calero08-02-07, 03:02 PM | I am both a fighter and assassin, what prestige class can I add to boost my arcane ability? Thanks in advance, -Lord Calero |
| Arniha08-02-07, 06:52 PM | You Don't (If you want a less brief answer, type a less brief summary of your character) |
| Magius_Rerecros08-02-07, 07:01 PM | Umm... yeah. There's not really anything that you can do for his arcane abilities at that point in terms of prestige classes. You might be able to convince your DM to let you take the Extra Spell feat to pick up an abjuration spell and go Abjurant Champion, but there's really not a whole lot you can do. Not that Abjurant Champion would really help with the Assassin's pathetic spell list. |
| StevenO08-02-07, 11:26 PM | What do you mean by "boost"? The Assassin's spellcasting could qualify for a number of prestige classes if you're looking to increase that. |
| Calero08-03-07, 10:55 AM | nevermind. |
| Puca08-03-07, 11:19 AM | With the ability to cast arcane spells, there are a number of PrCs you can qualify for. Probably hundreds. Most of them are going to advance your Assassin spellcasting ability and add some other little goodies as well. The thing is, continuing to advance as an Assassin gives you goodies and advances your spellcasting already, so you need to decide on what you want to do in addition to advancing your spellcasting. If you do that, people will be able, and possibly even willing :), to give you helpful responses. So give some details about what you do and are good at now, and if you can, some indication as to what you would like to be better at in the future. |
| Magius_Rerecros08-03-07, 11:36 AM | The only thing that I see as a problem with that is the Assassin's excessively pathetic spell list that (as far as I know) doesn't officially advance beyond 4th level spells. A lot of these spellcasting PrC's have the nifty "+1 Spellcasting" thing that basically adds to your spellcasting class for determining spells per day/spells known. Well, what if you advance your spellcasting beyond any Assassin listings? How do you add to something that's maximum, even if its already epic? That's the only thing that I see wrong with it. |

That's the only thing that I see wrong with it.You cant go beyond the limits of the initial spell-casting class. If you were an Assassin 2, and then took nine levels of another PrC with full advancement, you wouldnt be able to cast any more spells than you did the previous level (3/3/3/3.) You would, I believe, increase your caster-level to 11, but little else. |
| Magius_Rerecros08-05-07, 12:01 PM | Yeah, that's what I thought. So going into other arcane-based PrC's to advance the Assassin's arcane abilities is really kind of useless. |
