Barbarian prestige classes [Archive] - Wizards Community

04-04-07, 04:43 PM I have a player who wants a prestige class for his Barbarian. He is looking at frenzied Berserker right now but I want to give him more options and don't have any books that include anything Barb Specific.

Any suggestions on good Barb PrCs?

04-04-07, 05:01 PM Well, I don't like frenzied berserkers much, even though they can be quite strong. Now, Runescarred Berserkers (Unapproachable East)... give me the old hamster-lovin' fools anytime. It takes a bit of wisdom, by the way, but being able to have your very own antimagic field is worth it :D . Aside from that... Bear warrior isn't my thing. Battlerager (Races of Faerun) is okay, particularly for barb/fighters that won't get mighty rage anyway (it's for dwarves, though, but dwarves make some of the best barbarians around anyway). Frostrager (Frostburn) is imo definitely stylish... And if you dare take Superior Unarmed strike, it can be one of the classiest acts you've pulled. Seriously, tearing someone apart with your bare hands? That's badass.

And, of course, if you don't mind being cheesy and your DM allows exalted, I think you can't go wrong with the Champion of Gwynharwyf. I don't know if it misses anything a barbarian might want.

Would you accept classes that aren't only for barbs? There are quite a few PrCs that aren't only for Barbs, but that you can easily access and find quite nice. Is there something unique that you want to emphasize about your barbarian? Spirituality? Links to nature? What he hates or fights for? There are enough PrCs out there that you can choose something that really fits him or her.

04-04-07, 06:23 PM Yeah, you get something like casting... or scroll-making, more like. The part I consider most flavorful is that inscribing the scars is treated like every other wound... No pain, no gain.

It is called Firestorm Berserker. It grants fire immunity and cold resist while raging and gives you some other stuff. So I will compare. Thanks. More suggestions are always appreciated.
