They seek out creatures with spell-like-abilities and learn their talents Requirements: Eldritch Blast 3d6 Knowledge (arcana or the planes) 8 ranks Stats: Skills, HD, Saves, BAB as Warlock 1st Copy Ability, Venerate Beast 2nd Eldritch Blast +1d6, Learn Defense 3rd Learn Magic (3rd) 4th Eldritch Blast +2d6, Learn Defense 5th Learn Magic (4th) 6th Eldritch Blast +3d6, Learn Defense 7th Learn Magic (5th), Imbue Essence 8th Eldritch Blast +4d6, Learn Defense 9th Learn Magic (6th) 10th Eldritch Blast +5d6, Dark Insight All statistics are as Warlock. Learned Abilities: At most levels, a beast acolyte can learn an ability. To learn an ability, the beast acolyte must find a creature with an appropriate ability of the outsider, magical beast, or fey type. From now on, these are called "beasts". They must then engage in a ceremony lasting 1d4 hours and requires an appropriate alchemical item (usually holy water or unholy water. If none fits, use 25 gp of silver dust). This process can take place before or after the beast acolyte gains a level. Copy Ability (Su): A beast acolyte can copy the spell-like ability of any beast as a standard action. Unlike learning, the creature may not be willing but gets a Will save (DC 10+beast acolyte level+beast acolyte's Charisma modifier). The creature must have a caster level on it's spell-like abilities of no more then twice the beast acolyte's level. The beast acolyte loses this ability for as long as he keeps the spell-like ability. If the ability is at will, it lasts for up to a day. If the ability is a certain number of uses per amount of time (such as 3/day or 1/week) it lasts for that amount of time. Venerate Beast (Su): As a full-round action, a beast acolyte peforms a short invocation to a beast. The beast acolyte selects a metamagic feat. If it has prequisites, the beast acolyte must meet those prequisites. The beast acolyte also selects a duration. For that duration, all of the beast's spells and spell-like abilities are cast with that metamagic feat. For that duration, the beast acolytes's eldritch blast subtracts twice the metamagic feat's level adjustment from the number of d6's the beast acolyte's eldritch blast deals. If this would reduce damage below 0 the beast acolyte cannot select that metamagic feat. The duration is dismissable by the beast, but not the beast acolyte. Eldritch Blast (Sp): This is a bonus to the existing class feature. Note that beast acolyte levels count as warlock levels for all the purposes of this class feature. Learn Defense (Su): The beast acolyte may learn +1 DR from a beast with DR, fiendish resilience from a beast with fast healing, or energy resistance from a creature with energy resistance. Added DR is of the type the beast has (such as /piercing or /good) instead of /cold iron. Energy resistance is of 2 of the types the beast has. If the beast has only one type the energy resistance is doubled. These abilities can be taken more then once, stacking in the way the warlock abilities do. Learn Magic (Sp): The beast acolyte may learn the spell-like ability of any beast. It counts in all ways as a warlock invocation. The ability is at-will even if the original creature's wasn't. The maximum level of the ability is listed in the chart. If it is 3rd or 4th level, treat it as lesser. If it is 5th or 6th level, treat it as dark. The caster level is equal to warlock levels+beast acolyte levels. Imbue Essence (Su): The beast acolyte has all item creation feats at a caster level of his warlock levels+beast acolyte levels. He can use his own or a willing beast's spells and spell-like abilities for the prequisites. Dark Insight: At 10th level a beast acolyte gains new insight into his old powers. If he returns to his warlock class he can learn dark invocations. He adds 10 to his caster level with invocations. |
