Bladesinger Question [Archive] - Wizards Community

01-05-08, 06:09 PM If you want to play a bladesinger, most DMs would make you use the bladesinger from complete warrior, which unfortunately for fans of the other versions of the class does not have it's own spell list.

You think it'd be fair to replace the every other level spell progression with the spell list and spell progression of the bladesinger in Tome and Blood? (spellcasting up to 4th level spells, the list being restricted to about 4 spells per level, all of them buffs like magic weapon, mage armor, shield, haste, etc....)

It would basically make it so you could use a duskblade/hexblade/prc with weak spell progression level to qualify for the class as opposed to needing something with full caster spellcasting to get a worthy benefit from the every other level spell progression. The tradeoff of course being the bladesingers extremely limited spell list.

Check the Bladesinger in Races of Faerun, it's exactly what you're describing.

01-08-08, 01:38 PM I'd allow the use of both Bladesinger types; the Complete Warrior type and the one found in the ToB web material which to very similiar to the RoF version. I'll make all versions use the CW special abilities but then allow the player to choose either the 1/2 casting increases or the seperate casting progression. Both types have their place so I don't see the need to discriminate.

I'd rather use the Bladesinger in the Elven Netbook. You can find it in the FR General Board.
