It seems the warlock has been largely relegated to magic-based ranged sniping, and shifted largely away from melee combat. I decided to try my hand at rectifying this with a homemade PrC. Go on. See if you like it. I'll wait.

(NOTE: Some assembly required. Progression may not scale perfectly. Some abilities may be of too high or too low a level for their power rating. Use at your own risk).

[Time crunch! I promise to put this together in a table and name the class features by Friday! Sorry! :weep:])

Requirements:
Base Attack Bonus: +4
Invocations: Eldritch blast 2d6, hideous blow
Skills: Spellcraft 8 ranks, Concentration 8 ranks
Feats: Power Attack, Combat Casting
Special: Must be proficient with at least one martial weapon.

Stats:
Good progression: Base attack bonus, Fortitude save, Will save
Bad progression: Reflex save
Invocations: Full progression (with the exception of first level)
Class Skills (4+Int): Concentration, Spellcraft, Knowledge (arcana, religion, the planes), Craft, Profession, Tumble, Jump, Balance, Climb, Swim, Bluff, Intimidate, Sense Motive, Escape Artist

1: Use hideous blow without provoking an attack of opportunity, any melee weapon you wield is treated as magic and cold iron (in addition to the weapon's inherent material) for purposes of overcoming damage reduction, add Strength bonus (or Dex bonus, if wielding a weapon with Weapon Finesse) to the save DC for eldritch essences delivered with hideous blow.

2: Receive a bonus on checks to penetrate SR with hideous blow equal to the penalty on your attack you take when using Power Attack (the bonus is in addition to bonus weapon damage)

3: Make a full attack and apply an eldritch essence to every attack (each attack during that action must use the same essence)

4: Weapon overcomes hardness and DR as adamantine (in addition to cold iron and whatever other materials apply), receive a profane (or sacred, if CG) bonus on weapon damage and critical confirmation rolls equal to Charisma bonus or +1, whichever is higher.

5: When making a full attack, you may designate a different eldritch essence to apply to each attack, immediately prior to rolling for that attack.

6: When wielding a magic weapon, add its enhancement bonus on attack and damage rolls to the save DC and spell penetration checks of any associated essences.

7: You may apply eldritch essences to your attacks of opportunity

8: On critical hits, attached essences ignore SR.

9: Ignore deflection bonuses to AC, as well as shield and mage armor spells, as well as similar protections from magic items.

10: Once per day per point of Charisma bonus, use true strike and true casting simultaneously as an immediate action.

Any help at all (refining the progression, coding the data in a table, naming the class features, etc).

Interesting Idea, I have been contemplating something like this as well.

Ability #9 is just too powerful though. Some AC casters have is only deflection. I would sugest replacing that ability with something much weeker, you already have a number of other good and decently powered abilities.

Also please try to get this on a code chart like other classes.

Dammit! That's exactly what I was thinking about! If anyone could show me how (or provide a link to a coding how-to bank), I'd greatly appreciate it!

To make a table, simply do it up as you'd like in Excel (or in a table in Word). Copy into notepad, and get the tab spacings right. Then in the Post Reply window, there's a button with [CODE] tags - copy your table from notepad or where ever into the [code][code] tags and it should work. Keep working on it looks good.
