| Neraagile01-29-08, 06:15 AM | I'm very new at this (this is my first one), so if its horribly broken or the wording is terrible you are probably quite correct.... anywho I would like some Feedback so that I can make it better... Cheers ^^ Also any idears to class skills are very welcome :P Bloodfueled Titan Bloodshed and combat is a normal part of an adventurers life. Rarely though, does an individual show such mindless lust for the act of combat itself. Forsaking everything but their drive for conflict, the Bloodfueled Titan are know to wade singlehanded into battlefields, slaughtering every single man that does not flee or yield (or prove an worthy opponent), before leaving as sudden as they arrived. For that reason they have been given the nickname “War Jinx”. Few know how one becomes a Bloodfueled Titan, but there are rumors of ancient ruins from times long since gone, that hold the secret of how to become one. Requirements To qualify to become a Bloodfueled Titan, a character must fulfill all the following criteria. Alignment: Chaotic Neutral Base Attack Bonus: +8 Feats: Great Cleave, Cleave, Power Attack, Special: Must spend the night in the Ruins of Strife, if the spirits find the subject worthy, he will wake with the knowledge to complete the ancient Ritual of Bloodshed. (this involves forsaking all previous spellcasting, psionic and meldshaping abilities) Level Fort Ref Will Special Bloodlust Pool 1 +2 +0 +0 Bloodlust pool, flesh of steel, 3 bloodfueled strike 2 +3 +0 +0 Unnatural Drive 6 3 +3 +1 +1 Violent Apotheosis 9 4 +4 +1 +1 Bloodfueled Resilience 12 5 +4 +1 +1 Flesh of steel, improved 15 bloodfueld strike 6 +5 +2 +2 Paragon of war 18 7 +5 +2 +2 Dampening Runes 21 8 +6 +2 +2 Violent Apotheosis 24 9 +6 +3 +3 Eternal Body, supreme 27 bloodfueled strike 10 +7 +3 +3 Flesh of steel, bloodfueld 30 leviathan Class Skills: The Bloodfueled Titans class skills (and key ability for each skill) are Climb (Str), Craft (Int), Intimidate (Cha), Jump (Str), Listen (Wis), Spot (Wis), Swim (Str) Skill Points at Each Level: 2 + Int modifier. Bloodlust Pool: Beginning at first level, a Bloodfueled Titan gains a pool of available energy generated by his bloodlust that he may utilize as he sees fit. The Bloodlust Points in the Bloodlust Pool starts each encounter at 0, at the end of each encounter the Bloodlust Points in the Bloodlust Pool is reduced to 0. Every time the Titan successfully deals damage or is dealt damage add 1 Bloodlust Point to the Bloodlust Pool, and twice that on a confirmed critical (be it your own or your opponents), or if the target is dropped by the attack. The maximum possible size for a Bloodlust Pool is equal to the character's Bloodfueled Titan level times 3. Bloodfueled Strike (Su): At first level, a Bloodueled Titan may spend a number of Bloodlust Points, a swift action, to add a bonus on melee damage rolls equal to the number of points spent in activating this ability. This ability cannot be utilized while the character is making use of the Power Attack feat. Flesh of Steel (Ex): Upon beginning the path of an Bloodfueled, his skin begins to harden, thicken and take on a dark metallic hue. He may no longer wear any armor (though he may still use shields), and gains a +1 natural armor bonus as well as a +1 deflection bonus to AC. These two bonuses increases by 1 at 5th level and again at 10th. Also at 1st level, the Bloodfueled gains DR 1/-. The damage reduction increases to 2/- at 5th level and to 3/- at 10th. For every 6 Bloodlust Points in his Bloodlust Pool the Bloodfueled's deflection bonus increases by 1, and for every 10 Bloodlust Points the Bloodfueled's DR increases by 1. Because of his unnatural looks, the Bloodfueled takes a penalty on his Charisma based skills (except Intimidate) equal to his class level. Unnatural Drive (Ex): Starting at 2nd level, as long as there is 1 or more bloodlust point in his Bloodlust Pool the Bloodfueled Titan does not fall unconscious when he reaches 0, he automatically stabilizes and can continue to act as if he's disabled, and when he reaches -10 he immediately die (this functions exactly like the Diehard feat), as long as the Bloodfueled is below 0 hit points he loses 2 Bloodlust Points every round. Violent Apotheosis: At 3rd level and again at 8th the Bloodfueled gets a +1 boost to Strength and Constitution, and the Bloodfueled's Charisma and Intelligence are both permanently decreased by 1 (to a minimum of 3). Bloodfueled Resilience: Starting at 4th level, a Bloodfueled Titan learns how to ignore the hindrances placed upon him. For Every 5 bloodlust points in his bloodlust pool, he gains a +1 bonus on Fortitude and Will saves. In addition, whenever you would take ability damage, you may negate it by spending twice as many bloodlust points. You may not spend fewer points to resist some but not all ability damage and you cannot negate ability drain in this way. Improved Bloodfueled Strike (Su): Starting at 5th level, for every 3 points the Bloodfueled Titan spend on his Bloodfueled Strike ability, he adds +1d6 damage to all damage rolls this round and gets a cumulative +1 bonus on attack rolls. Paragon of War (Su): Starting at 6th level for every 5 Bloodlust Points in his Bloodlust Pool, the Bloodfueled Titan gets a cumulative +1 enchantment bonus to Strength and Constitution, as long as the Bloodfueled has at least 20 Bloodlust Points in the Bloodlust Pool he gains Fast Healing equal to half his class level rounded down. Dampening Runes (Ex): At 7th level, an Bloodfueled Titan gains spell resistance equal to his class level + 10, the spell resistance increase by 2 for every 15 Bloodlust Points the Bloodfueled has in his Bloodlust Pool. Eternal Body (Ex): After achieving 9th level, an Bloodfueled Titan no longer suffers ability penalties for aging and cannot be magically aged. (Penalties he has already suffered remain in place) Bonuses still accrue, and the Bloodfueled still die of old age when his time is up. Supreme Bloodfueled Strike (Su): Starting at 9th level, when a Bloodfueled Titan spends 15 or more points on his Bloodfueled Strike ability while taking a Full Attack action, he gains one additional attack at his highest Base Attack Bonus. Bloodfueled Leviathan (Ex): At 10th level the Bloodfueled Titan completes his transformation into the ultimate paragon of war and bloodshed. The characters Strength is permanently increased by 4, his Constitution is increased by 2 and his Charisma is decreased by 2 (to minimum of 3), his type changes to outsider (native). The character does not need to eat or sleep. As a native outsider the character can still be raised, reincarnated or resurrected just as other living creatures can be, and remains native to the Material Plain. Additionally, the Bloodfueled is treated as one size category larger whenever it would be beneficial to do so. Multiclass Note: A Bloodfueled Titan who cease to to Chaotic Neutral cannot gain new levels as an Bloodfueled and loses all supernatural and extraordinary abilities. Like a member of any prestige class, a Bloodfueled Titan can take levels in other classes after entering the Bloodfueled Titan class, but Bloodfueled Titans face a special restriction. An Bloodfueled who gains a level in any other class after having gained his first Bloodfueled Titan level can never again raise his Bloodfueled Titan level, though he retains the Bloodfueled Titan abilities he has already earned. |
| DonThelonious01-29-08, 06:37 AM | Sweet class. The flavor and execution are awesome. Just a few little things: Bloodlust Pool: Do the extra points that he gains from damaging/ criting, or felling a foe work like temporary HP? What I mean is do they kind of dissapate after awhile or is his pool the max number of points he can have at any given time? Bloodfueled Strike: The language on this was a bit unclear. SO he trades it out point for point or what? If it is point for point than this ability is VERY over powered. At level 10, if he chose, he could be doing +60 damage with every hit. Also how long do the benefits of this abhility last? Flesh Of Steel: Imho this ability is over powered as well. All the character would need is a pair of bracers of armor (which he should be able to afford at this level) and BAM! you get +5 from the class + bracers + dex= Real high AC. Jus tpointing that out. Dampening Runes: This should be class level + 10 at most, personally I would go with 5. As written 15 is pretty high to start and then you add the 15 class levels and you get SR 30. Only the most powerful dragons, outsiders, and epics have it this good. If you went with 5 than he would start with SR 20, which is very nice. Over all though this is nice class. Good work:) |
| Neraagile01-29-08, 06:46 AM | There lowered the AC bonus and put the restriction (that there were supposed to be on Improved Bloodfueled Strike) ... oh forgot the SR... one sec.. done... Just need to include class skills now :O |
| DonThelonious01-29-08, 07:32 AM | Looks good to me:) Now you just need the skills, skill points per level and a second and third opinion and you will be all set to start playtesting:cheer:. Edit: Oh, you do have skill points! Your skill list is kind of... lacking, though. I don't have my books with me, but as a good start for the list you might just use the fighters skill set. |
| Neraagile01-29-08, 08:24 AM | I did ... and Ride and Handle (which is the difference between the two lists) ... isn't a very Single Minded, Machine of Destruction thing... Second, Third option =? |
| Realms of Chaos01-29-08, 10:06 AM | Hmm, time for a detailed analysis. First thing that comes to mind is that this is not a PrC made for players, or at least no more so that the Rainbow Servant or Suel Arcanamoch. You require one specific alignment, require PCs to go to a certain area, require that they be found worthy, and that they then perform a ritual. Let's look at the mechanics of the class. First of all, it mentions the hit dice nowhere (although I assume it is a d12, or at least a d10). Small selection of skill points is not preferable but not horrible, strictly speaking. Even so, you may want to consider a couple of skills that aren't directly related to the class, such as spot and listen. Now we get to the nitty-gritty, your bloodlust pool. I've seen several classes run synergistically off of points like this (the most notable are the Factotum, Hell Reaver, and Ninja). However, there is a major difference between such classes and this. Put simply, none of those classes provides substantial benefit just for possessing these points (except the +2 will bonus of the ninja). In your class, only one ability actually allows you to spend points. As such, you could simply save your points to have an unkillable machine and actually rely on power attack for damage (keep in mind that power attack is a prerequisite). Before I make any inversions (and I do suggest inverting the mechanics), there are 2 points that I must point out to you. 1. Exalted bonuses, like those granted by flesh of steel, are usually restricted to good characters, which this PrC can not be. I suggest replacing it with a deflection bonus or simply increasing the natural armor bonus. 2. Unnatural drive is needlessly complicated. For example, in the example you give, you can indeed survive at up to -16 hit points. At the start of the next round, however, you lose 3 bloodlust points, meaning that you die at -10 hit points (as you only have one point left). My suggested change for this ability is allowing you to live at up to your negative constitution score so long as you possess even one bloodlust point and only draining two bloodlust points each round. Now that I am done with that, let me tell you how I suggest inverting the entire mechanic. The bloodlust pool is perfect in and off itself, however. What I suggest is that for every ability that you gain for having a certain number of bloodlust points, you should instead be able to acquire that benefit for a number of rounds equal to your constitution modifier by spending that many bloodpoints. However, multiple investments don't stack. For example, let's look at flesh of steel. If I was a bloodfueled titan, I would still receive the baseline armor and damage reduction. However, if I invest 12 bloodlust points (as, let's say, a swift action), I get an Extra +2 ac and DR 1/-. If I was to invest 10 more bloodlust points on the next round, however, I would get no further benefit, as the benefits of this investment (+1 ac and DR 1/-) do not stack with those of the previous investment. I would similarly invert almost all other abilities (including changing improved bloodfueled strike to simply grant a +1 bonus to attacks for every 3 invested points and supreme bloodfueled strike to grant an extra attack for every 15 invested points). The one thing I would allow to function based on the remaining number of points, ironically, is the plain bloodfueled strike. Furthermore, I would just grant a bonus on attack rolls equal to the remaining number of points in your pool. While the thought of a +30 bonus on damage rolls is staggering, keep in mind that this is about in line with a 9th level manuver, that you are pretty much disregarding every other class ability that you spent 10 levels obtaining, and that such large bonuses to damage increase the odds of dropping a foe (and thus gaining 2 bloodlust points and a cleave attack) after spending a couple of points to activate another ability. |
| Neraagile01-29-08, 08:00 PM | All hail Chaos. Because he has something good between his ears, where other have porridge (myself included... as obvious with the lack of HD) :king: Also now that I think about it, it makes more sense that way.... Bloodfueled is included in the name as well xD |
| Neraagile01-29-08, 08:18 PM | There were some abilities that I would like to keep at the "as long as you have x ammount of Bloodlust Points" abilites, but now I'm thinking it'll encurage saving points to get better, instead of using them ... seems a bit erratic. Also an Important fact to point out.... the Bloodlust Pool empties out at the end of each encounter. (I'm starting to doubt people have seen that :P, because theres no comments on it.... and it can't be right xD) |
| Aleolus01-29-08, 08:57 PM | Looks good, however some of the abilities need rewording to make them easier to understand. Here's how I would word it. Bloodlust Pool: Beginning at first level, a Bloodfueled Titan gains a pool of available bloodlust he may utilize as he sees fit. A Bloodlust Pool starts each encounter at 0, and gains 1 point every time the Titan successfully deals damage to a target, or double that on a confirmed critical, or if the target is dropped by the attack. The maximum possible size for a Bloodlust Pool is equal to the character's Bloodfueled Titan level times 3. A Bloodfueled Titan may utilize these Bloodlust points to power various Bloodfueled Titan class abilities. He may no longer wear any armor (though he may still use shields), and gains a +1 Natural armor bonus as well as a +1 exalted bonus to AC. These two bonuses increases by 1 at 5th level and again at 10th. Also at 1st level, the Bloodfueled gains DR 1/-. The damage reduction increases to 2/- at 5th level and to 3/- at 10th. For every 6 Bloodlust Points in his Bloodlust Pool the Bloodfueled's Exalted Armor bonuses increase by 1, and for every 10 Bloodlust Points in his Bloodlust Pool increase the Embodiment's DR by 1. Because of his unnatural looks, the Bloodfueled takes a penalty on his Charisma based skills (except Intimidate) equal to his class level. Unnatural Drive (Ex): Starting at second level, a Bloodfueled Titan does not fall unconscious when reduced to 0 hit points. When reduced to 0 or fewer hit points, a Bloodfueled Titan automatically stabilizes, and may continue to act as though he were merely disabled. He still dies when he reaches the absolute minimum hit points. In addition, a Bloodfueled Titan with sufficient points in his Bloodlust Pool increases the distance he may go into the negatives without dying. For every 2 points in his Bloodlust pool, a Bloodfueled Titan may go an additional 3 points into the negatives without dying. For example, if Krusk, a Barbarian 10/Bloodfueled Titan 2 has 4 points in his Bloodlust Pool, he does not die until he reaches -16 hit points, rather than -10. Violent Apotheosis: At 3rd level, and once again at 8th level, a Bloodfueled Titan gains a +1 boost to Strength and Constitution, and his Charisma and Intelligence scores are both permanently reduced by 1 point (to a minimum of 3). Improved Bloodfueled Strike: Starting at 5th level, when a Bloodfueled Titan makes use of his Bloodfueled Strike class ability, every 3 Bloodlust Points he spends convert from 3 points of damage to +1d6 damage. In addition, the Bloodfueled also gains a cumulative +1 bonus on attack rolls. This ability may be utilized a number of times per encounter equal to the characters Bloodfueled Titan level. Paragon of War (Su): Starting at 6th level for every 5 Bloodlust Points in his Bloodlust Pool, the Bloodfueled Titan gets a cumulative +1 enhancement bonus to his Strength and Constitution. Also, he gains Fast Healing 3 as long as he has 15 points in his Bloodlust Pool, with an additional 3 for every 15 beyond the first. Dampening Runes (Ex): At 7th level, an Bloodfueled Titan gains spell resistance equal to his class level + 10. This Spell Resistance increases by 2 points for every 15 points available in the Bloodfueled Titan's Bloodlust pool. Eternal Body (Ex): Upon achieving 9th level, a Bloodfueled Titan no longer suffers ability penalties for aging and cannot be magically aged. (Penalties he has already suffered remain in place) Bonuses still accrue, and the Titan still dies of old age when his time is up. Supreme Bloodfueled Strike: Starting at 9th level, when a Bloodfueled Titan spends 15 or more points on his Bloodfueled Strike ability while taking a Full Attack action, he gains one additional attack at his highest Base Attack Bonus. Bloodfueled Leviathan (Ex): At 10th level the Bloodfueled Titan completes his transformation into the ultimate paragon of war and bloodshed. The characters Strength is permanently increased by 4, his Constitution is increased by 2 and his Charisma is permanently decreased by 2 ponts. In addition, his type changes to Outsider, with the Native subtype. As a native outsider the character can still be raised, reincarnated or resurrected just as other living creatures can be, and remains native to the Material Plain. In addition, the Bloodfueled is treated as one size category larger than he actually is whenever being larger would provide a bonus. A Bloodfueled who gains a level in any other class after having gained his first Bloodfueled Titan level, other than the class he qualified for Bloodfueled Titan with, he can never again advance as a Bloodfueled Titan, though he retains any Bloodfueled Titan abilities he has already earned. |
| Realms of Chaos01-29-08, 11:06 PM | Oh, there is one thing that I just might've misread. I thought you started each encounter with maximum points for some reason. If that were true, my inversion would be somewhat of a necessity. If you start each encounter with 0, your technique might be more appropriate, actually. Oops. Edit: only Aleolus' edit explicitely stated that you start with 0. Your ability, as written, is silent as to whether you start with all of them or none of them at the beginning of an encounter (although most would assume you start with none if this were to be printed in an official sourcebook right now). |
| Neraagile01-29-08, 11:13 PM | okay .... Will change it then Edit: I don't want assumptions ... Edit: Wait a second... wouldn't he just die to anything that would drain/damage Charisma?, if he uses his stats from the point buy system (which I mostly use) he ends up with 4 cha in the end .... (maybe I should give him better saves or increased saves as his blood points increase) |
| Aleolus01-30-08, 12:40 AM | okay .... Will change it then Edit: I don't want assumptions ... Edit: Wait a second... wouldn't he just die to anything that would drain/damage Charisma?, if he uses his stats from the point buy system (which I mostly use) he ends up with 4 cha in the end .... (maybe I should give him better saves or increased saves as his blood points increase) Cha doesn't affect any saving throws. Just Con, Wis and Dex, none of which you have being affected. |
| Neraagile01-30-08, 02:45 AM | Thats not my point ... where the hell did I say that any saves were governed by Cha... just said that if Bloodfueled Titan with -6 to cha meet something that drains/damages cha that he'll be in trouble ... since things with 0 cha are items (meaning that he would stop functioning if his Cha would be reduced to 0) |
| DonThelonious01-30-08, 06:27 AM | Neraagile are you a robot? You seem to function on less sleep than I do. |
| Neraagile01-30-08, 06:29 AM | You'll never know ... (bip) ;) |
| Khallhadras701-30-08, 11:28 AM | I love the idea and great flavor, but I could so abuse this idea. >=)> |
| Aleolus01-30-08, 12:21 PM | Thats not my point ... where the hell did I say that any saves were governed by Cha... just said that if Bloodfueled Titan with -6 to cha meet something that drains/damages cha that he'll be in trouble ... since things with 0 cha are items (meaning that he would stop functioning if his Cha would be reduced to 0) Ability scores for characters have a minimum of 1. Meaning, if that -6 Cha put him to anywhere from 1-4, and he takes Cha damage or Cha drain, there will be no effect (I'm fairly certain). At most, it would drop his Charisma to 1. However, if you're worried about it, you could just say that he takes a -3 penalty to all Charisma based skills except Intimidate. That has the same effect, without actually changing his Charisma. |
| Neraagile01-30-08, 05:29 PM | I'm fairly certain that ability drain/damage can reduce the target to zero in a single score (and thus incapasitating them in some way or another) |
| DonThelonious01-31-08, 03:21 AM | Ability damage can and will drop characters to 0, and if a character hits 0 in any ability score they are pretty much dead. Str or Dex 0= paralyzed, Con 0= dead, Int or Wis 0= brain dead, Cha 0= ugly as sin and inanimate. As for playable ability scores the minimum is 3. |
| Neraagile01-31-08, 06:56 AM | previous statement = Bloodfueled Titan needs some kind of defence against this otherwise they are teddybears ... |
| Realms of Chaos01-31-08, 09:47 AM | How about something like this. There. I gave him defense against poison, disease, death affects, compulsion, and ability damage all in one. Ability drain is still harmful but it generally rare enough to warrant not having a resistance to it. |
| Neraagile01-31-08, 08:44 PM | Thank you  (well that saved me some time :D) |
| Realms of Chaos02-03-08, 07:25 PM | Glad to help. Anyway, there are two more things that have been bugging me. 1. It seems that this PrC should be more compatable with the barbarian class but the feats required prevent this from possibly happening. As the BAB requirement is already keeping out the low-level riff-raff, I recommend removing the weapon focus, weapon specialization, and melee weapon mastery. What I recommend putting it, however, is great cleave (which sounds like alot more sense to me). 2. Although you now state that your bloodlust pool starts at 0 at the beginning of each encounter, you may want to state that it returns to 0 at the end of each encounter. To demonstrate why I recommend this, allow me to give you an example. Lets say that a fighter 8/Bloodfueled Titan 10 gets into a massive combat. He builds his pool up to a maximum. His skin is rock, his muscles are huge, etc. Anyway, the final enemy falls and the Bloodfueled Titan is retaining all of this strength. As the Titan walks down a corridor, the last, unnoticed survivor of the massacre, a lone kobold, attacks the titan... whose muscles suddenly deflate.   I'm not joking.   Technically, he just entered a new encounter. As such, his pool resets to 0 and he was thus weakened by a lone kobold's attack (which missed, by the way). :nonono: :nonono: :nonono: |
| Neraagile02-03-08, 08:00 PM | Very true... Fixed, also changed it so that he also is fueled by his own blood (makes more sense to me, problem is It might make it too quick to recharge the Bloodlust Pool....) |
