Bloodstorm Blade: Lightning Ricochet vs. Blood Wind Richochet [Archive] - Wizards Community

Is it just me, or is the bloodstorm blade's blood wind ricochet (which you get at level 5 of the PrC) a more limited version of the lightning ricochet (which you get at level 4) that also eats up a maneuver? It doesn't seem to make sense...

kind of, blood wind allows you to hit the second person as if it came from the first person thus potentially getting rid of ranged penalties or cover. you can also do this with the 3rd person as if it came from the second person and so forth.

It's called ability progression. What happens is that your abilities stop needing you maneuvers to work and gain additional abillities.
