Champion of the Colossus Blade (Colossus Blade)
http://img247.imageshack.us/img247/8531/cotcbeh8.jpg
(Did this image a few years ago.)

The Captain stared in horror as ranks of his men were being slaughtered right before his eyes. "N-no man possesses that kind of power..." he mouthed as he watched one soldier fly through the air and land on troops in the rear of the formation. A giant blade was risen, and in the next instant, three men were cut completely in half. This is the Champion of the Colossus Blade. He wields weapons of incredible size, and to great effect, with the ability to cut a swath through opponents with the efficiency of ten men. Most Colossus Blades originate from barbaric lands where physical strength is king and the weakest die young. Though few venture from their homeland, some come to the cities and towns looking to start a new life or because they were ostracized from their clan. Most that stem from such a background usually end up in a military unit as the mass-combat specialist, but some become mercenaries or adventurers.

Steel Grip (Ex.)
Through specific training regimens, the Colossus Blade develops an extraordinarily powerful grip, along with great balance, and has developed an ability to wield larger weapons effectively. At 1st level, the Colossus Blade gains the powerful build trait and if he already has this trait, he is then able to use two-handed melee weapons two sizes larger than himself. However he does not gain either of these benefits with flexible weapons such as chains, flails, whips, or bows and crossbows. At 6th level, this ability develops further and he is now able to use two-handed weapons two sizes larger than himself (or 3 sizes if he has already had the powerful build trait before entering this class), but at a -2 penalty to attack.

Take Cover (Ex.)
Due to the size of the weapon a Colossus Blade wields, it may be used as partial cover and to block attacks. You gain a +2 shield bonus to AC as long as a weapon one size larger than you is held. If you fight defensively, are using a two-handed melee weapon without reach that is at least one size grater than you are, you can use your weapon to give you 1/2 cover, granting a +4 cover bonus to AC and +2 bonus to Reflex saves. If you use the total defense option, the weapon gives you improved cover granting a +8 cover bonus to AC and +4 to Reflex saves. This bonus stacks with other cover bonuses that may affect you.

Knock Them Senseless (Ex.)
By using the flat of your weapon instead of your blade, you can daze an enemy with your attack. As a standard attack action, you may opt to use this technique. You only deal subdual damage with the attack, but your foe must succeed at a fortitude save of 10 + your Colossus Blade level + your Strength modifier or become dazed for 1 round (until just before your next action). If the creature is immune to subdual damage, then it is also immune to the other effects of this ability. You may use this ability a number of times per day equal to 3 times your Strength modifier.

Scything Assault (Ex.)
A Colossus Blade excels at demolishing groups of creatures all at once. On your turn, when using the attack or full attack action with a melee weapon you have weapon focus with and is at least one size category larger than you are, you may use this option. Select an arc of 180 degrees, centered on you, and make an attack against each creature within the arc that is in your reach. If the arc is broken by a wall, or some other physical object other than a creature, you may attempt to sunder the object and continue the rest of the attack. If unsuccessful, the attack stops at that square and you cannot attack beyond it. When you use this ability, you forfeit extra attacks granted by other feats, spells, or abilities (such as the Cleave feat or the haste spell).

Steel Avalanche (Ex.)
Raising your blade high, you swing down in a deadly arc, damaging foes before you. When you use this maneuver, select a line of 10 feet plus your reach, beginning adjacent to you, and as a standard attack action, make a single attack at your highest base attack bonus with a +2 bonus to the attack. If the attack hits any of the foes in the line, you deal normal weapon damage to those foes.

Force of Spirit (Su.)
Through sheer force of will, the Colossus Blade can empower his strikes to devastating effect. He can transfer his life force into his weapon to deal an incredible amount of damage. As an attack action, you make an attack and may designate a number of hit points to have your weapon deal that amount of extra damage to a single opponent. This hit point amount may be no less than 1 and no greater than your Colossus Blade level x10, or your current life total -1 (whichever is lower). If the attack succeeds, it deals an extra amount of damage equal to the hit point value you designated and you take an equal amount of damage. This damage is not multiplied on a critical hit and if the attack fails, you take half the specified amount of damage and a daily use is expended as normal. This ability is usable a number of times per day equal to 1/2 your Colossus Blade level.

Slow and Steady (Ex.)
As a full attack action, you may use this combat technique. You may reduce the number of attacks in a round you make and, for each attack, you gain +1 to your critical threat range, +2 to attack, and +4 to damage. If you make only one attack using this ability, your critical threat range increases by an extra +1, the bonus to attack increases by an additional +2, and damage increases by and additional +4. Thus, if you normally have 4 attacks, declare the use of this ability, and make only one attack instead, you gain +4 to your critical threat range, +8 to your attack roll, and +16 to damage.

Backlash Parry (Ex.)
A Colossus Blade can use his weapon to reverse the attack of a foe. If an opponent attacks you with a melee attack, ranged attack, or a spell that requires an attack roll (such as a ray), you may use this ability. As an immediate action, make an opposed attack roll. If your foe's attack result is higher than yours, the attack affects you as normal. If your attack result is higher, then the attack is deflected. All melee attacks and rays deflected in this manner have a 25% chance to affect the attacker.

Crescent Strike (Ex.)
The final maneuver in the Colossus Blade's repertoire showcases his physical strength with an attack that sends men flying into the air and landing with a bone-shattering crunch. As a standard action, you may make a single melee attack against a corporeal opponent of one size larger than you or smaller. If the attack hits, the enemy must succeed at a Reflex save (DC = Str. modifier + 1/2 damage dealt) or be sent flying 10ft. + 5ft. for every 2 points it failed the check, in a direction of your choice. For every 5ft the enemy travels, it takes an extra 1d6 damage beyond your normal attack damage. You can only push the opponent in a straight line, and the opponent can’t move closer to you than the square it started in. If an obstacle (rock, wall, other creature, etc.) prevents the completion of the opponent’s move, the opponent and the obstacle each take 1d6 points of damage for every 5ft beyond the obstacle the enemy would have traveled, and the opponent ends prone in the space adjacent to the obstacle. You cannot score a critical hit on this attack, nor is it usable with effects that grant extra attacks (such as cleave or the haste spell) though you may use this in conjunction with the Scything Assault ability.

Ok. Over 50 views and no comments. I'm not expecting a huge thread or anything. I'd just like to know what you think of it good or bad. I'm really wanting to play as a character that wields these big weapons, but is not overpowered like the Greatblade Soldier. I need some backing from other people to sway my DMs decision.

04-10-07, 07:36 AM
well , why didn't wotc make prc like this for CW :D ?

have you test played it yet ?
Khatoblepas

04-10-07, 08:04 AM
Okay, I don't have much time, but:

1) Don't make prerequisites of ability scores.

2) Do you have to take subdual damage with Force of Spirit? What if you're immune, like the Undead or Constructs?

3) Why do most of these abilities have limited uses?
Riplox

04-10-07, 09:21 AM
gullas: Thank you! That's a nice compliment. And no, I haven't playtested it yet. I was trying to see what the general consensus on this class was before I showed it to my DM.

Khatoblepas:
1) Don't make prerequisites of ability scores.
I guess you're right on that. I remember reading a guide on PrCs and they mentioned something along those lines.

2) Do you have to take subdual damage with Force of Spirit? What if you're immune, like the Undead or Constructs?
Good point. I never considered those as Colossus Blades. Maybe I could make it actual hit point damage equal to half the amount you add to the attack. That seems about right. Yeah...

3) Why do most of these abilities have limited uses?
Well, I was trying to limit it so you don't have someone abusing one ability (like Backlash Parry) all the time. I guess I can make it to where most are unlimited. I would like that more, but I made them have a limit for balance reasons. If you think that I can get away with unlimited uses per day, then that's cool. I'd probably have them usable only once per round or something like that if that's the case.

I kind of like this prc class , it's pretty good one , could I use it in my campaign?
Riplox

04-10-07, 09:49 AM
Absolutely. I'd be honored. I've never had a PrC used outside of my own game (that I know of). Oh, and I got rid of the usage limits on most of the abilities and also got rid of the Strength and Wisdom requirements.
AngelLemmingThief

04-10-07, 02:47 PM
I like it too. Out of interest why non-lawful? It fits the barbarian theme but there seems to be nothing in the class particularly non-lawful.
Riplox

04-10-07, 03:58 PM
Well, what would you suggest having as a requirement? If I take that out, then there's not much there. Extend the feats required list to include Monkey Grip? I want something a little restrictive.
AngelLemmingThief

04-10-07, 04:02 PM
Hmms. Maybe some skill requirements? A few balance ranks perhaps? Maybe one of the rare pre-reqs - a base fort save of +6 or something?

04-11-07, 12:17 AM
holy crap i love it. i've been wanting to play a character like this for months, but trying to just adapt a fighter or paladin to use a greatsword thats a size too large is ridiculous. my day has been made.
demoniciron

04-11-07, 08:48 PM
:D Great, thics is great. now if i take monkey grip, exotic weapon proficency (fullblade), and mak that fullblade have the special quality balanced, i can finally weild that collosakl full blade.:D
Riplox

04-11-07, 09:12 PM
Um. I hope you're being sarcastic. If you aren't, I hate to break it to you, but Monkey Grip and Balanced don't stack. Also, I'm assuming you're a medium-sized character because of the EWP. So I guess if you were large-sized or a character with a powerful build, use my class, get a gargantuan mercurical greatsword, and put my enlarging ability on it, you could have a colossal mercurical greatsword dealing...8d6 damage per hit with a x4 crit (32d6 damage)...ouch.
Aryxbez

04-11-07, 10:06 PM
as far as I am aware, balanced makes it easier to wield DOWN by one step, and thus stacks with monkey grip technically. Also I do like this class, it would go perfect with a kingdom in my games. Also been tempted to play something like this. Although it kinda screams FF7s Cloud, I don't really care, since I hate FF7.

Also, why only Slashing weapons? I would love to wield a Giant Ball on a stick, or this case, a mace.

Also is this class balanced compared to martial adepts and all that?
Riplox

04-11-07, 10:32 PM
Heh. I thought of FF7 after I made it. I could name a character Cirrus or Stratus...lol. Anyway, I have the ToB and referenced to abilities in there to create some of mine. I believe it is because I tried to make it so my DM would accept me playing it that I had to dumb things down a bit. On a side note, we're not using the ToB because he feels it's a little too powerful along with the fact that he and the other players don't have access to it.
Aryxbez

04-11-07, 11:16 PM
well what should be changed to revamp it up so it is not toned down?
Aryxbez

05-22-07, 01:40 PM
I must ask, why is there a Fortitude requirement?

Also what of Great cleave with Scything Assault should there be an ability that allows one to slice through a bunch of foes?
If you did so, it would pretty much allow them to use their Final ability, Crescent Strike, to be more useful.
Terronus

05-22-07, 05:37 PM
Did I miss something or is the first Steel grip exactly the same as monkey grip? -2 to attacks to wield a larger weapon? Perhaps the penalty should disappear and keep the 2nd grip the same.
SlanderPanic

05-23-07, 05:17 PM
I like this class. It's a lot better than other "zOMG HUEG SW0RDZ" prestiges I've seen floating around, both in terms of flavor and mechanics. I really like that you didn't post a bunch of anime pictures with it. (My prejudice against mixing anime with D&D is well-documented. If I wanted to do that, I would play -and have played- BESM d20.)

Anyway, I've got some nitpickery and suggestions here that I think will make this class even better, so let's dive in!

Prerequisites:
BAB: +6
Base Saves: Fort +5
Feats: Weapon Focus with a Two-Handed slashing or bludgeoning weapon, Power Attack, Cleave, and Monkey Grip
Skills: Balance 5 ranks

Everything looks in order here. Balance is cross-class for all of the core melee classes, so this means most characters won't be able to go into it until 8th level. Since most melee-types have low skill points, sucking up ten ranks of a cross-class skill hurts. A lot. A little sacrifice is a good thing, but you may want to pull this back to 4 ranks.

I would also add Special: Must be trained by another Champion of the Colossus Blade.

Hit Die: d10
Skills: 2+Int modifier
Class Skills: Balance (Dex), Climb (Str), Craft (Int), Handle Animal (Cha), Heal (Wis), Intimidate (Cha), Jump (Str), Profession (Wis), Ride (Dex), Sense Motive (Wis), Survival (Wis), and Swim (Str)
Armor and Weapon Proficiencies:
A Champion of the Colossus Blade gains no new weapon or armor proficiencies.

Everything looks good here.

Steel Grip
Take Cover

No issues with either of these.

Knock Them Senseless
fortitude save of 10 + 1/2 your total level + your Strength modifier

Half your character level or half your Champion level? I'd go ahead and just make it 10+Champion level+Str mod.

Scything Assault

I was expecting this to be a revamp of the War Mind's (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/psionic/prestigeClasses/warMind.htm) Sweeping Strike ability. This works fine as is, but I'd word it so the target of the second attack has to be adjacent to the first target and within your reach.

Steel Avalanche

Looks fine.

Force of Spirit

I would have this attack allow you to invest up to your Champion level x10 in hit points, not to exceed your current hit point total, as extra damage potential. If the attack misses, the damage is wasted and the Champion loses the hit points anyway.

I'd also make this a Supernatural ability. All the others seem Extraordinary to me, though you should specify.

Slow and Steady

Very cool. Sacrifice one gamble at damage for another. I like these sorts of gambling abilities.

Backlash Parry

This reminds me of Deflect Arrows, but also for melee attacks. I like it. I'd make it an immediate action, just to clarify.

Crescent Strike

I'd give the Champion the Awesome Blow feat (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/monsterFeats.htm#awesomeBlow) without having to meet the prerequisites and also make it stack with Scything Assault so he can fling multiple enemies with the same attack action. That seems to be what you're going for anyway. Ka-POW!

Overall, there's some room for improvement in this class, but it's a fun-looking, well-balanced prestige. The suggestions above are pretty minor, for the most part. With some tweaks, I'd definitely allow it in my games.

Good job, Rip!

Prerequisites:
BAB: +6
Base Saves: Fort +5
Feats: Weapon Focus with a Two-Handed slashing or bludgeoning weapon, Power Attack, Cleave, and Monkey Grip
Skills: Balance 5 ranks

Hmm...I can't find anything wrong here, other than what Slander already pointed out. I agree about the training Prereq though.

Hit Die: d10
Skills: 2+Int modifier
Class Skills: Balance (Dex), Climb (Str), Craft (Int), Handle Animal (Cha), Heal (Wis), Intimidate (Cha), Jump (Str), Profession (Wis), Ride (Dex), Sense Motive (Wis), Survival (Wis), and Swim (Str)
Armor and Weapon Proficiencies:
A Champion of the Colossus Blade gains no new weapon or armor proficiencies.
Why are Handle Animal and Sense Motive CS? I can understand Heal, as he needs to be able to tend to his wounds after slaying hundreds of foes, and all the rest are usefull in the wilderness or physically oriented. It just doesn't feel like it fits the theme.

Steel Grip
Through specific training regimens, the Colossus Blade develops an extraordinarily powerful grip, along with great balance, and has developed an ability to wield larger weapons effectively. At 1st level, the Colossus Blade can wield melee weapons of a size larger than himself and can use two-handed melee weapons of his size in one hand (not including flexible weapons such as chains, flails, whips, or weapons with reach). Thus a medium-sized Colossus Blade may wield a large-sized greataxe in two hands or a medium-sized greataxe in one hand. However, this comes at a small price as the increased weight throws him slightly off-balance giving a -2 penalty to attack rolls. At 6th level, this ability develops further and he is now able to use two-handed weapons two sizes larger than himself, but can still only wield two-handed weapons of his size in one hand. He now only takes a -2 penalty to attack on the largest size weapon he can wield. Thus, a level 6 Barbarian/ level 6 Colossus Blade of medium size can use a greataxe of his size in one hand or use a large greataxe two-handed without penalty, but takes a -2 penalty to attack rolls when using a huge greataxe.
This ability will go GREAT with my Half-Giant Psychic Warrior 5/ War Mind 8 who focuses on making himself and his greatsword hugemongus.

Take Cover
Due to the size of the weapon a Colossus Blade wields, it may be used as partial cover. If you fight defensively, and are using a two-handed melee weapon at least one size grater than you are, you can use your weapon to give you 1/2 cover, granting a +4 cover bonus to AC. If you use the total defense option, the weapon gives you 3/4 cover granting a +7 cover bonus to AC.
Very nice. For clarity, you might want to mention the bonus to Reflex Saves that goes along with the Cover. Also, If I already have 1/2 Cover, can I cover my other half with my weapon?

Knock Them Senseless
By using the flat of your weapon instead of your blade, you can stun your enemies with your attacks. When using this technique, you only deal subdual damage, but those you hit must succeed at a fortitude save of 10 + 1/2 your total level + your Strength modifier or they become dazed for 1 round (until just before your next action).
What kind of action is this? Is it part of a normal Attack Action or a Standard Action in and of itself? Also, take a look at Stunning Fist and consider giving it a number of uses per day similar to that but based off of Strength perhaps. As is, it just seems a bit strong.

Scything Assault
A Colossus Blade excels at demolishing groups of creatures all at once. When attacking an opponent, he may gain the benefit of the cleave feat without having to down the first opponent before attacking the second. This is effective in an arc of 180 degrees and may not be used in conjunction with the Knock Them Senseless class feature.
Great Cleave anyone?

Steel Avalanche
Raising your blade high, you swing down in a deadly arc, damaging foes before you. When you use this maneuver, select a line of 3 squares beginning adjacent to you and, as a full-round action, make a single attack at your highest base attack bonus with a +5 bonus to the attack. If the attack hits any of the foes in the line, you deal normal weapon damage to those foes.
Just a note, you might want to measure that in feet, not everyone uses 5' squares.

Force of Spirit
Through sheer force of will, the Colossus Blade can empower his strikes to devastating effect. Once per day, a Colossus Blade can transfer his life force into his weapon to deal an incredible amount of damage. When you make a successful attack, you may designate a number less than your total current hit points and have your weapon deal that amount of extra damage to your opponent and damage equaling half that amount to yourself. This damage is not multiplied on a critical hit.
Nothing wrong here, although you might want to give an extra use per 3 points of Con Mod. This makes for a very deadly ability.

Slow and Steady
As a full attack action, you may use this combat technique. You may reduce the number of attacks in a round you make and for each attack gain +1 to your critical threat range. If you make only one attack using this ability, your critical threat range increases by an extra +1.
In contrast to Knock Them Senseless, this one actually seems a bit weak. An evil character can be in the Disciple of Dispater class and two levels away from having an ability that TRIPLES the threat range of ANY METALLIC WEAPON HE WIELDS and two levels ago it was Doubled. Not to mention that it stacks with Keen or Improved Crit and imposes no penalty (it actually gives him a permanent bonus to Attack and Damage).

Backlash Parry
A Colossus Blade can use his weapon to reverse the attack of a foe. If an opponent attacks you on his turn with a melee attack, ranged attack, or a spell that requires an attack roll (such as a ray), you may use this ability. Make an opposed attack roll. If your foe's attack result is higher than yours, the attack affects you as normal. If your attack result is higher, then the attack is deflected and has a 25% chance to affect the attacker. This ability is usable once per round.
This is cool. It meshes well with the class, isn't overpowered as far as I'm concerned, and imho, provides a nice defensive ability to round out a more or less entirely offensive class.

Crescent Strike
The final maneuver in the Colossus Blade's repertoire showcases his physical strength with an attack that sends men flying into the air and landing with a bone-shattering crunch. This attack is a full round action that is treated as a touch attack and the throw is resolved as a trip attempt, for which you do not incur attacks of opportunity nor can you be tripped if you fail the check. Upon a successful trip, you send your opponent flying up to 10ft. away from you plus an additional 5ft. for every 5 points you exceed the check, and landing prone in the destination square taking your normal attack damage + 1d6 points of damage per 5 feet traveled. This attack may only be used on creatures of one size larger than you or smaller and you cannot score a critical hit on this attack.
Very Nice. No problems here.
Aryxbez

05-24-07, 12:04 AM
Force of Spirit: Giving it 3+con mod, is a great idea

Also most of the abilities already kinda self explanatory as to what they do. Although I wonder if Scything assault allows Great cleave, either way I will use it.

Knock Them Senseless:simple, part of the attack action

Edit: I realized, with the Sizing enchantment from Magic item compendium, you could go into city with his Giant Axe or mace, the size of a dagger. Then Bam! super Gargantuan
sized Axe!

Seeing as there are people posting on this class again, I'll go about adjusting it as per the suggestions, seeing as they seem to be rather good ones. Thank you all for criticizing this class constructively instead going OMG!!1! THIS 2 BROKED! NO!!!
Aryxbez

05-26-07, 09:57 PM
Crescent Strike can be used with scything assault correct?
I would allow it since it seems to be a intended, that they can be used together.

Also is there a point to using steel avalanche when you could use scything assault? Since Scything covers more foes, and avalanche is only foes in a line.
180 degrees is the two square adjacent to the guy plus the diagonal squares right? like so:

x=the square it covers

x Guy x

In my opinion, there really is no need for the Special, as that should be merely a flavor that the DM adds, none the less, I will most likely remove that Prerequisite

I've gotta say that this is one nice class! The simple fact that so huge weapons are rare, and the medium wielders are even fewer makes this very balanced, and the different class features make complete sense! Though I get Zabuza vibes, rather than FF7. This is a PrC I'd play, though you've ought to make quite some character!

BTW, in what book do you find Monkey grip?
Riplox

05-27-07, 06:11 PM
Aryxbez:
Scything Assault works just like you have depicted.
Also, I was intending Crescent Strike to work only on one opponent at a time. I had never really considered using the two together. I don't see much of a problem with it working in conjunction with one-another though.
And, yes, Steel Avalanche works only in a straight line like it says. It's great for getting guys in a line (like in a corridor) or when you have more than one level of enemies stacked (like in ranks).

IntOblivion:
Thank you! I appreciate the nice comment, and I hope you find the class enjoyable (if you ever get to playing it).
To answer your question, Monkey Grip can be found in Complete Warrior.
Aryxbez

05-27-07, 06:41 PM
I thank you Riplox for clearing that up for me.

Also just a thought, remember not to change something immediately because of one person. Unless that person shows great reason and/or proof.

Another thing, what do you the power of this class be? comparing to other powerful prestiges and such, like the martial adepts?
In my game, I plan to use this prestige class some time in the game for a powerful foe. Going to be in a battlefield obviously.

for entry preq. what about those with powerful build, but not monkey grip(since they dont stack)

should be monkey grip or powerful build

like the class

Hey. Thanks for the suggestion. It makes a lot of sense so I implemented a special in the requirements section concerning it. I don't know why, but I completely forgot about the Powerful Build trait.
IronFistMonkCerberlain

no prob, ive done it before too
SlanderPanic

Powerful build came to mind immediately upon reading this class. A half-giant or goliath could end up swinging a Gargantuan weapon by the terminus of the class. A character would be at least 12th level by then (and ECL 13 because goliaths and half-giants are both LA+1), so 6d6 base damage isn't out-of-line. (Besides, everyone knows that the real damage at high levels is in the modifier, not in the dice.)

My ideal progression for a character like this would probably be a half-giant psychic warrior 5/war mind 3 before starting on Champion levels, alternating between war mind and Champion levels after hitting level 3 in Champion. There'd be a lot of heavy roleplaying involved in getting into each of the two prestige classes, but that's the way I like it. Being able to combo the war mind's sweeping strike with scything assault would be pretty potent and well worth waiting 'til 14th+ level.
IronFistMonkCerberlain

06-01-07, 02:01 PM
if only powerful build and monkey grip could stack, oh the damage u could deal
Aryxbez

06-01-07, 02:21 PM
No need, with magical items, a medium creature could wield a colossal weapon, at least I am really sure of this.

Monkey grip feat,+Strongarm bracers(MIC pg139),+Balanced enchantment(Arms and Equipment guide)+Enlarge weapon spell.
(Complete Scoundrel)

goest large,huge,gargantuan, and then colossal.

So then Take the Sizing enchantment in MIC on pg 43, and your weapon could go from a colossal weapon, to a dagger sized weapon so you can hide it in cities. Then when battles comes, whip out the dagger sized axe, and blamo! Gargantuan axe applied with enlarge weapon spell.
IronFistMonkCerberlain

06-02-07, 02:06 PM
strongarm bracers and monkey grip dont stadck, for the same reason monkey grip and powerful build dont stack, because they do the same thing (allow u to wield a weapon one size larger than normal)

i believe strongarm bracers/monkey grip/powerful build stack with balanced because they do different things(at least to my understanding)
Aryxbez

06-02-07, 02:48 PM
Yeah, I was pretty sure I was wrong there, so then just replace strongarm bracers with the Titan bloodline,

Even if that does not work, there is always this prestige class, which will definitely guarantee it at 6th level or so.
IronFistMonkCerberlain

whats the titans bloodline?

with monkey grip, balanced, this class lvl 6, you get a gargantuan (3 sizes up), then get a permanent enlarge person to get that 4th weapon size up(ur large using a coloassal weapon, buyah)

edit: just thought of something, if u use powerful build to get into this class, then lvl 1 steel grip does absolutely nothing, since u dont the -2 to attack rolls when using a larger weapon if u have powerful build instead of monkey grip

Titans bloodline is a bloodline in the Unearthed Arcana book.

Also scrap enlarge, as that defeats the whole purpose of the challenge that a MEDIUM creature can wield a Colossal weapon. Instead put the Enlarge weapon spell from the complete scoundrel book, on it. Otherwise Enlarge would work well.

Also Steel grip with powerful build is still useful, now can legally wield a medium 2-handed weapon in one hand, also think of it as a extra bonus for your +1 la a goliath or most races with powerful build have to go through.

im pretty sure powerful build already allows u to wield two-handed medium weapons in one hand

also, i use perm enlarge person because i dont have Unearthed Arcana or Complete Scoundrel

legally no, Powerful Build allows you to only be able to wield Larger weapons as if large and not smaller, like balanced enchantment does. However most DMs just house-rule it in their games otherwise.

IMO, Steel Avalanche should take the weapon size into account, as-is both just a large greatsword or a huge greatsword (not to mention if someone uses a build to get something bigger), no matter the size it's a 15-ft line. Possibly a line of length equal to the typical reach of something of that size?

Seeing as weapon size seems not to account for much (with the exception of reach weapons), distance is determined by the characters reach. I've adjusted it from a fixed 15 feet to 10 feet plus your reach. So a medium sized creature will affect an area of 15 feet while a large creature with a 10 foot reach will affect a line of 20 feet.

Very cool! One of my players asked if there is suchs a class as this, but I couldnt find one. So, I started making one aswell. Then I came across this one, seems to be worked out well. Good job! Just wondering, why didnt you put monkey grip in your prerequisites? Not that its a must ofcourse, but it seems like a good fit to me (I did so with mine).

First, I'd like to say thanks for the compliments and I hope you find the class fun to play. Second, excuse any misspellings or strange typing because I'm writing this from my phone. Third, to answer your question, I took Monkey Grip out because it was a pointless feat and I didn't want the player to be stuck with this useless feat. Also, I wanted any player with a full BAB to be able to take this by level 6.

It went pretty well when a P.C. in my game used it. I have nothing bad to say about it. I really like the class and I would use it... but the P.C.'s decided me to be the DM since they say they "do not know how/are horrible at it." Eh, oh well, always could make it a NPC.

Hopefully you didn't mind me letting others use the class in my campaign :raincloud

Absolutely! By all means you and anyone else may use this class; that's why I posted it in the first place. I'm glad it plays well, so thanks!

Mongoose made a PrC very similar to this in 3.0. I don't have the book anymore unfortunatly.

But really this class invokes Guts (Gutz, whatever) more than any anime character. In fact for the flavor text it basically happened in Berserk (Anime with Guts in it)

Although I understand this is not the right forum to discuss this little bit. So I'm going to say I suppose I apologize, if ye feel it is distracting or otherwise against 4th ed.

So on that Note, since 4th ed has been out for quite a while, ye think this would be possible to be created as a Paragon path of some sort?

As I'm sure some or 3 of these abilities could be made via the power format and such.

Perhaps Monkey grip being like Powerattack, in the regard that it gives a -2 attack for the ability to wield a weapon one size larger, and increase it to 2 at epic tier or something. That or it could be a -1 instead, if you feel it might be crappier than powerattack.

Although I suppose since a increase in damage type is alot more weaker now, Powerattack does sound better.

2d6-2d8, 7-9
Pow attack=+6 damage for it's penalty
1d12 to a 2d6= 6.5-7

So I guess, a -1 would be more fitting, or perhaps a better weapon sizing.

Otherwise, If it's okay, I might try to make this a paragon path, although it will probably not be so good.

I totally agree. And now that I have time to work on such a thing, I'll remake it and post it in the 4e forums and put a link to it in my main post.
