Reading through the fist of the forest prestige class, I noticed the Primal Living special rule. I may be having one of my players running this class, and at first glance it appears to me that if the character camps in a dungeon (indoors) then they lose their abilities. Is this how the other dm's interpret the rule?

Are there 'doors' in the dungeon? I would say 'indoors' more classifies as a man-made dwelling meant for occupation. A cave or whatnot is natural, so it wouldn't qualify.

I mean, YMMV of course, but I think they mean man-made dwellings.

Well it says willingly sleeps indoors more then 3 times then they loose their class abilities. So I'd rule that as long as you didn't intend to be stuck somewhere you would have to sleep inside your good. So if you are in a dungeon that is man made and leaving would be harmful to your party then you can stay with no penalty, but if you’re in a dungeon and you sleep inside just to save you the walk out then you're in trouble. But that is just my interpretation of the rules, as strict reading means that an elf never suffers this penalty as they don't sleep, but thats nitpicking.

And warforged never need to sleep at all. That would be a cool character concept: a warforged living naturally.:shifty: *ganked*

Perhaps I should be a little more specific about the campaign. The entire campaign will be taking place within undermountain. (Converted the expidition book to higher levels).
The only argument that I have heard is that Undermountain could be called it's own eco-system.

Natural caves are as well places of natural lifecycles as the forests. It shouldn't count as indoors by any means.

Ruined aren't indoors either, in my opinion. There used to be, that's all.

As a DM, I'd say that only sleeping in bed, in man-made dwelling intended for that purpose should count.
In real life, I've slept on the hay over the stable for more than a week not so long ago ;) And you know what? I wouldn't count that as "indoors" :D

I would consider indoors to mean 'in buildings', generally.
