Couple of Dervish questions [Archive] - Wizards Community

07-09-07, 06:20 PM Question 1: Can a Dervish throw slashing weapons as part of a Dervish Dance?

Question 2: The Slashing Blades ability says that a Dervish treats Scimitars as light weapons for all purposes, does that mean that a Dervish wielding a Scimitar would take a -4 penalty on a disarm attempt?

07-09-07, 06:23 PM 1. Since it specifies in the description "For melee attacks only", I'd say no.

2. All purposes means all purposes. This makes scimitars incapable of being Power Attacked with as well, among other things.

As for the scimitars, that kind of sucks, I would think they would still be treated as one handed weapons when it would be beneficial to the Dervish, otherwise they're barely any better than the Kurki.

07-09-07, 11:19 PM Entirely true. That's why, when I create Dervish PC's, I avoid scimitar usage. Avoiding Drizz'le clones is a good way to go anyway. :D

07-09-07, 11:22 PM Use a glaive. It rocks... you get full attacks, and opponents without reach take an AoO every turn to get to you.

07-10-07, 02:43 AM This reminds me, didn't OA have a spiked chain-esque weapon for slashing damage? That would be so worth the EWP ;)

Edit: it does, the kusari-gama. While the way it is worded I get the feeling you do not get the THW bonuses if you use it as a reach weapon, it is still good for a battlefield control dervish.
