I want to make a an cold-energy type version of the Pyrokinecticist, however I'm having a few issue's

Mostly the requirments,

I'll post them here since there part of the Open-Reference Document,

Requirements

To qualify to become a pyrokineticist, a character must fulfill all the following criteria.
Alignment

Any chaotic.

Skills

Concentration 8 ranks, Craft (alchemy) 1 rank, Knowledge (psionics) 2 ranks.
Psionics

Must have a power point reserve of at least 1 power point.
Special

Must have set fire to a structure of any size just to watch it burn.

The requirment to burn down a structure is the main issue.

Any thoughts on what would be a good replacement?

The problem is the term pyrokinetic. It means you have the mental power to set things on fire. Cryokinetic would be the mental power to freeze things. No idea how that would work.

That's what I'm trying to make. A Cryokineticist, I'm asking what should I change in the requirements so that I can make a class that has the same abilities as a Pyro but with ice and not the fire.

It works the same way a Pyrokeneticist does. As for the Special requirement, it doesn't matter. It's just there for flavor but if you really want to make a frozen one I would say...something to the effect of "Must have jumped into a frozen lake just to see how cold it was." or "Must spent an entire day in artic weather with no special clothes because you wanted to." or something.

I like the Frozen Lake one, I'm gonna go with that one. Thanks for your help.

P.S. I borrowed part of your sig.

There is already a published Cryokinesist in Frostburn.
It has prereqs of 8 ranks concentration, Craft alchemy 1 rank, Know psionics 2 ranks and must have Energy emanation power.

What's Frostburn? Is it a book? I've never heard of it.

Yes it is a sourcebook on playing in snow and frost regions. In the same league as Stormwrack for sea campaigns and Sandstorm for desert campaigns.

I'll take a look and see if I can find it.

My main goal was merely to have the Pyro's class abilities and give them a little twist.

Yes, but it's generally a lot worse than the XPH pyrokineticist. However, there was a Mind's Eye article (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/psm/20040625e) about making variant pyros - Cryo, Sono, Electro and Acetokineticists.

I like the electrokineticist, myself. Raiden, anyone?

I agree. Don't buy Frostburn for just the Cryokinesist. However if ou plan to play heavily in the arctic climes the book has merit. I would try to borrow it first though to see if it really is all that.

Thanks for the link to that article, it seems like it kinda weakens all other energy types though. Are they exactly balanced or fair?

Oh, certainly - it is a very decent book, and it does have some good prestige classes.

It weakens the other energy types because the others are slightly more powerful than Fire. Mainly due to less resistance to fire. Also, Sonic & Acid bypass hardness and nearly nothing has resistance to sonic.

Nearly nothing. There aren't that many creatures with immunity to acid, either.

But damn, an acetokineticist's whips can look... freaky. Electos and cryos would probably have the best visuals, imo.
