The Shadow warrior is an excellent melee combatant and strives to achieve mastery and perfection in both the way of the shadow as well as the art of war to combine both to make a lethal fighter capable of killing the mightiest and most god like of foes. Apart from their abilities in the way of the shadow and elite fighting prowess and their ability to master both the Shadow warrior is primarily dedicated protecting the innocent and serving justice and maintaining honor but Shadow warriors constantly cross the line of ethics and conduct that a paladin would never dare tread upon (For example a Shadow warrior would kill and torture a human pedophile without hesitation). Also another difference that Shadow warriors and other champions of good have other than a Shadow warriors extreme, Violent and merciless methods is that Shadow warriors are often misunderstood, mistrusted and feared by the people they live to protect despite their good deeds and intentions. Shadow warriors get along extremely well with chaotic good barbarians and fighters and the same can be said about their relationship with chaotic good frenzied berserkers and war blades but Shadow warriors dislike working with paladins and other such lawful classes as Shadow warriors prefer their independence and freedom and Shadow warriors have a very large dislike for wizards and sorcerers of all kinds and will kill necromancers on sight. Despite their independence Shadow warriors will always follow the orders of and serve a druid of the good alignment. Requirements: Race: Caelach Feats: Toughness, Diehard, Endurance, Power attack and cleave Must have at least 10 levels in fighter Must be chaotic good Hit Die: d12. Class Skills The shadow warrior’s class skills (and the key ability for each skill) are Climb (Str), Hide (Dex), Intimidate (Cha), Jump (Str), Swim (Str), Move silently (Dex), Spot (Wis) and listen (Wis) Skill Points at 1st Level: (2 + Int modifier) x 4. Skill Points at Each Additional Level: 2 + Int modifier. Table: The Shadow Warrior Level BAB Fort Ref Will Special 1st +1 +2 +2 +0 Bonus feat, Dark vision 60 feet, Fearless 2nd +2 +3 +3 +0 Dark vision 70 feet, Shadow meld, Shadow stealth +2 3rd +3 +3 +3 +1 Bonus feat, Shadow shift( 200ft,1/ day) 4th +4 +4 +3 +1 Dematerialize(20ft), Shadow stealth +3 5th +5 +4 +4 +1 Bonus feat, Shadow shift( 300ft,2/ day) 6th +6/+1 +5 +2 +2 Shadow slide, Dematerialize(30ft) 7th +7/+2 +5 +4 +2 Shadow Stealth +4, Bonus feat, Shadow shift( 300ft,3/ day) 8th +8/+3 +6 +5 +2 Dematerialize(40ft) 9th +9/+4 +6 +5 +3 Shadow shift( 300ft,4/ day), Shadow stealth + 5 10th +10/+5 +7 +6 +3 Dematerialize(No damage suffered) Class Features The following is a class feature of the shadow warrior Prestige class. Weapon and Armor Proficiency: The shadow warrior is proficient in the use of all simple and martial weapons and all armor and shields (including tower shields). Bonus Feats: At 1st level, a Shadow warrior gets a bonus combat-oriented feat every two Shadow warrior levels thereafter (3rd, 5th, 7th, 9th, 11th, 13th). These bonus feats must be drawn from the feats noted as Fighter bonus feats. A Shadow warrior must still meet all prerequisites for a bonus feat, including ability score and base attack bonus minimums. These bonus feats are in addition to the feat that a character of any class gets from advancing levels. A Shadow warrior is not limited to the list of Fighter bonus feats when choosing these feats. Shadowy impression: A shadow warrior is often mistrusted and feared despite their good intentions and suffers a -4 on diplomacy but gains a +2 in intimidate to any non caelach characters or npcs Dark Vision: A shadow warrior can see clearly through darkness as if it were day and at first level gains 60ft dark vision and dark vision 70ft at second level. Fearless: A Shadow warrior at second level is immune to fear and similar effects Shadow Meld: A shadow warrior has the ability to become one with the shadows to avoid detection and gains +8 on hide checks in a low light area Shadow Stealth: A shadow warrior gains +2 armor class at level 3 and + 1 AC every 3 levels thereafter until level 9 and cannot progress this ability further beyond. This AC bonus also applies against touch attacks but not when flat footed and a shadow warrior also gains a permanent +10ft to movement. Dematerialize: When a Shadow warrior falls they take 20ft less damage at level 4 and at level 6 the shadow warrior’s ability is increased to 30ft less damage and at level 8 it is reduced to 40ft less damage and at level 20 a shadow warrior takes no damage from falling at any distance( Also a shadow warrior may choose to while falling) Shadow Slide: At level 6 a Shadow warrior once per round can make a free move up to 40ft that ignores all minor terrain (such as rocks or roots on the ground or other minor obstacles) that does no provoke an attack of opportunity and allows the shadow warrior to make attack while moving (although he may not perform cleaves of any kind). This attack sounds as a free action which would mean that a shadow warrior could attack an enemy and still have the ability to make another normal move and attack) Shadow shift: At 3rd level Shadow warrior may teleport anywhere within a 200ft radius once per day and may do so twice per day at a 300ft radius at level 5 and every 2 levels thereafter may use 1 more time a day. Note that shadow shifting cannot be performed if the shadow warrior is within 30ft or less of an enemy but it can be used to teleport within 30ft or less of an enemy but provokes an attack of opportunity |
| Tuhljin05-09-07, 05:46 PM | For starters, you should change the requirement of "Must have at least 10 levels in fighter" to "Base Attack Bonus: +10" or something similar. And is there really a need for the alignment requirement? I try to avoid those unless the flavor or mechanics just don't work otherwise, and if I do find it necessary, I try to make it as broad as possible. For example, you might change "Chaotic Good" to "any Chaotic" or "any non-Lawful." Also, remove the line about Skill Points at 1st Level - that only applies to new characters. Finally, format your table so that it's easier to read. Many people have a hard time judging the balance of a class that doesn't have a table. Click the "Quote" button on this post to see how I do it here: Shadow Warrior Lvl BAB Fort Ref Will Special 1st +1 +2 +2 +0 Bonus feat, Darkvision 60 ft, Fearless 2nd +2 +3 +0 +3 Darkvision 70 ft, Shadow meld, Shadow stealth +2 Hint: Using a monospace editor like Notepad helps you to line table elements up nicely. Good luck! I'll check back in with this thread later to see how it's going. |
