| sally_jones06-21-07, 01:43 AM | hey folks, i'm running a game and i have a player who wants to be a daggerspell mage. his chosen race is the spellscale from races of the dragon. does anyone have suggestions i can give him on standard classes. |

After that, it is a matter of preferences imo. However, if he doesn't mind having a slightly more limited number of spells known, the battle sorcerer (unearthed arcana / SRD) or the stalwart sorcerer from CMage may be options for him to be a little more durable. Spellscales had a bonus to charisma, right? |

| The_Shaman06-21-07, 05:19 PM | OK, then I think battle sorc or stalwart sorc become really useful. All sorcerer abilities (incl dragonpact) are retained as they are variants, and daggerspell mages tend to be near the frontlines if they want to use their signature skills. |

I think unseen seer just takes lots of skill ranks, which levels in rogue handle, and then unseen seer boosts casting and sneak attack until you qualify for daggerspell mage. If you can swing it, I recommend some sort of cheesiness to persist wraithstrike as soon as possible. That will make hitting in combat that much easier. |
| sally_jones06-22-07, 12:35 AM | what book is unseen seer in? |
| The_Shaman06-22-07, 03:20 AM | CMage. I am a little wary of it though... The feature that boosts your caster level for divinations and weakens it for anything else is not for everyone. |
| sally_jones06-22-07, 12:36 PM | that divination boost does seems a lil shady but ill look into it. thx for the input. anymore is welcome. |
| Zelin06-22-07, 12:52 PM | I've thought about the unseen seer's adaption which is to switch the focus from divination to illusion which should fit better with the daggerspell's up close and personal approach. |
| sally_jones06-22-07, 03:49 PM | that sounds cool. i like that. |
| Marcus Majarra06-22-07, 04:50 PM | I don't remember the fine details of the Daggerspell Mage, but if it requires sneak attack, I would recommend you gain the ability through spellthief levels. With the Master Spellthief feat from Complete Mage, you remain quite an able spellcaster despite the multiclassing. Plus you can steal high level spells from your opponents. |
| teshen06-23-07, 11:58 AM | CMage. I am a little wary of it though... The feature that boosts your caster level for divinations and weakens it for anything else is not for everyone. True... but that's nothing being an Illumian (Races of Destiny) or the feat Practiced Caster (Complete Divine) can't handle. ;) |
