| AngelLemmingThief04-11-07, 09:51 AM | Fiddled a bit now. I realised the first version was under-powered. Hopefully this version is not over-powered. Feedback is greatly appreciated, especially with power levels and improvements on wording. Dark Hunter Hit Die: d6. Requirements To qualify to become a dark hunter, a character must fulfill all the following criteria. Base Attack Bonus: +7 Skills: Move Silently 10 ranks, Hide 10 ranks, Intimidate 5 ranks Feats: Track, Endurance Alignment: Any non-good and non-lawful Special: Favoured enemy class feature Class Skills The dark hunter's class skills (and the key ability for each skill) are Climb (Str), Craft (Int), Handle Animal (Cha), Hide (Dex), Intimidate (Cha), Jump (Str), Knowledge (dungeoneering/geography/nature) (Int), Listen (Wis), Move Silently (Dex), Profession (Wis), Ride (Dex), Search (Int), Spot (Wis), Survival (Wis), Swim (Str), and Use Rope (Dex). Skill Points at Each Level: 4 + Int modifier. Table: The Dark Hunter The Dark Hunter Level BAB Fort Ref Will Special 1st +0 +2 +2 +0 Descent into Darkness, Ranger Abilities 2nd +1 +3 +3 +0 Intimidating Hunter 3rd +2 +3 +3 +1 Darkvision 30ft 4th +3 +4 +4 +1 Trail the Prey 5th +3 +4 +4 +1 Scent, Skin Thickens 6th +4 +5 +5 +2 One with the Land 7th +5 +5 +5 +2 Fast Movement 8th +6 +6 +6 +2 Ambush the Prey 9th +6 +6 +6 +3 Darkvision 60ft 10th +7 +7 +7 +3 Skin Thickens, Predator Class Features All of the following are class features of the dark hunter. Weapons and Armour Profiency: A dark hunter gains no new proficiencies. Descent into Darkness (Ex): A dark hunter forms a special pact with a dark supernatural force. As they hunt and kill their body and soul changes. At 1st level a dark hunter gains 2 points of strenght but loses 2 points of intelligence. At 3rd level and every 2 levels thereafter the dark hunter gains 2 points of strength and constitution. At 5th level the character's alignment becomes chaotic, if not already and at 10th level their alignment becomes evil, if not already. Ranger Abilities (Ex): Levels in dark hunter stack with those of ranger (if any) for qualifying for favoured enemy bonuses, swift tracker, evasion, combat style mastery, camouflag, and hide in plain sight. Intimidating Hunter (Ex): At 2nd level, a dark hunter may add the intimidate skill to the list of skills benefiting from favoured enemy bonuses. Darkvision (Ex): At 3rd level, dark hunters gain darkvision to 30ft. This improves to 60ft at 9th level. Trail the Prey (Ex): By following an individual for 8 hours or more, and studying them for one hour or more a dark hunter of 4th level or above may treat that individual as a different type for the purposes of favoured enemy bonuses only. This ability lasts for 24 hours after the study completes. Only one individual creature can be treated in this way at a time. Scent (Ex): At 5th level the dark hunter gains the scent ability. Skin Thickens (Ex): At 5th level and every 5 levels thereafter a dark hunter gains 1 point of natural armour. One with the Land (Ex): In natural surroundings dark hunters of 7th level are so finely attuned they gain a +4 bonus to Hide, Move Silently, Spot, Search, and Listen checks. These bonuses are halved in non-natural surroundings. Fast Movement (Ex): After 7th level a dark hunter’s land speed is faster than the norm for his race by +10 feet. This benefit applies only when he is wearing no armor, light armor, or medium armor and not carrying a heavy load. Apply this bonus before modifying the dark hunter’s speed because of any load carried or armor worn. Ambush the Prey (Ex): When using the Trail the Prey ability the dark hunter only needs to study their target for 10 minutes. Predator (Ex): At this point in his or her career a dark hunter lives only for the hunt and can sense weaknesses as easily as an ordinary person can see armour. They need only study a target for 1 minute. They may simultaneously study a number of targets equal to their ranks in spot divided by 4 and rounded up. All targets must be within 30ft of one another for the whole minute. In addition if the dark hunter ever catches a target flat-footed they may apply their favoured enemy bonus on their attack roll. |
| AngelLemmingThief04-13-07, 04:22 AM | Would it help if I said this is part of my project to replace/augment +LA templates? This beast is more or less (other than the stalking abilities) a ranger with the lolth-touched and half-minotaur templates, split between 10 levels. |
