| Migi07-12-07, 11:12 PM | Hi all, I was hoping to get some advice from the experts on general guidelines for designing a capstone ability for PrCs. I've read the post on class design by OneWinged4ngel, and it made me realize that I need to learn more before I proceed. Any tips would be appreciated. Cheers! |

The problem with capstones (especially for PrCs) is that they're so dependant on what the class itself does. I think it's impossible to come up with a blanket answer that you can apply to all classes. So, the best I can offer now is to try and help you come up with ideas for existing classes. Otherwise, try to think: what would the best member of this class be capable of? Just try to keep the power level in check, and you should be on your way. Just a few examples: A fire using PrC - immunity to fire, or perhaps the fire subtype An undead hunter PrC - immunity to energy drain, and perhaps even ability damage/drain A telekinetic PrC - the ability to use a minor form of telekinesis at will. Some of these capstones can be built up slowly too. With the example of the fire immunity, perhaps the class grants fire resistance in increments of 5 on the even levels (20 at level 8), and immunity at 10th. Just some ideas to get the ball rolling. |
