| Arco Versipellis12-17-07, 12:16 AM | I am playing a gestalt sorcerer. I know I will be a spellscale (catfolk) with the Draconic Heritage (shadow), taking the Dragonblood Sorcerer substitution levels. I really want a draconic prestige class. I only found two. [I didn't want to take Dragonheart Mage again.] Dracolexi. Loose 1 caster level, but gain some special abilities, including some healing and increased spells known. I plan on using nearly all of the Power Word spells, just to be different. I don't parituclarly like the feats tied to this clas. [RotD] or Dragon Pact Adept. Loose 2 caster levels, bt gain a whole bunch of spell like abilties. Eschw Materials is cool, and I like Dragoncast. I am afraid that it isn't really worth the caster level loss. I like that it is only five levels, as it allows me to take another prestige class on my other gestalt side. and Dragon Disciple. I have no clue what I want to take on the other side; I think deciding on thiswill help me decide. If I take Dragon Disciple on the side I idn't take sorcerer on, does that make it a viable option for a prestige class? Would I gain the bonus spell slots (I assume they are slots and not spells known, though the text confused me)? |

It's a way for warriors and the like to get some casting, but sorcerers take very little from it - he gets the best feature, the free spellcasting, anyway (although the template is nice, but then he's better off with dragon disciple). Let's see... Draconomicon has the Talon of Tiamat/Platinum Knight, both are 5/10 spellcasting PrCs that can be useful for a "gish" - take the sorcerer levels on those PrC levels when you don't get spellcasting. Also, despite its name, iirc the Dragonslayer PrC from the same book doesn't mean you kill all dragons on sight - iirc the Bahamut and Tiamat cults employ some of those as well. It's 5/10 casting as well. Basically, if it's in the Draconomicon, RotD, or Dragon Magic, you can use it for either side of your gestalt. It depends on what else you are, though. P.S.: the Disciple bonus spells should work, I guess. It's not the same as actual spellcasting, so it wouldn't overlap. |
| Arco Versipellis12-17-07, 11:44 PM | I saw th dragon devotee, but the essenially looked like a 5 level dragon disciple, I thought that if the game went epic, I'd take it then because we drop gestalt progresions then. That way I get my twenty levels of sorcerer casting and a lot of ability adjustments from two prestige classes. I'm having trouble deciding between rogue and (urban) ranger [drop the spellcasting] as my other class. |
