I posted this in the main class forum but being a PrC...

Anyhow... what class works best to start. I am figuring Rogue with Ranger a second?

What other PrC's would fit alongside? Thief/Acrobat looks like a possibility. I am toying with a Gnome or Dwarf Fighter/Rogue and transition into a Delver. Seeing if you experts have ideas for other additions.

Any help would be appreciated!

The flavor is fantastic. I love the character behind the class. I was thinking something like Deep Warden would work well with it and reading Races of Stone I want to do an all dwarf campaign now.

Spell thief5/trapsmith5/dungeon delver 10 wouldn't be bad. Your base attack is only +13 but the spells should make you at match a rogue in combat.

Thanks. I don't really like the non core classes though (like spell thief).

OK ftr2/rog3/Ts5/DD10 basicly the same, except 2 bonus feats and +1 base attack.

Or ftr2/rog3/invisible blade 5/delver10, grants Int synergy for skills and ac. This assumes you want to be decent at combat.

Greetings, Walls!
I agree that the Delver is a cool concept, and so, I offer the following advice:

1) First, If you must take any class other than Rogue, then your best bet is Ranger(Even though I'm a fan of Fighters, myself). Why Ranger as a second Class? Because a Ranger has plenty of Skill Points and will help you stay stealthy(max the Hide & Move Silently Skills!) as well as decent HP(D8), a +1/Level BAB and a few neat Class Features.

2) I agree that a Dwarf or Gnome would be an efficient Race for this PrC, as well as good Role-Playing opportunities as your Dwarf or Gnome tells his fellow adventurers how he loves the underground, and why!

3) Equipment;
3a) Low Level(Pre-PrC): Stick to Basics! Do not forget to bring water into the Dungeon, there are no convenient 'water fountains' to drink from, and underground rivers may harbour parasites or poisons(natural ones like the mineral, Arsenic). Take a good Ranged Weapon as well as a short sword and som daggers, and a blunt weapon is good too.
3b) Mid Level(Starting PrC): Remember Basics, now get Magic versions of armor & weapons, and a Bag of Holding or a similar item to carry a LOT of provisions to let you stay underground for weeks at a time. Try to get Shadow / Silent Enhancements to your armor after it's Enchanted.
3c) High Level(total of 13 Level +):Still remember Basics and just upgrade what you can, and try to get a full set of Low/Mid Level replacement gear, just in case...
