At level 10, El Principe gains two levels in bard spells. Continue Inspire Progression: El Principe continues to advance in supernatural bardic music abilities, but no longer advances in spell-like bardic music abilities. For example, a Ari1/Brd5/Pcp4 can inspire courage +2 and inspire greatness, but cannot use a perform skill to create a suggestion effect. Royal Knowledge: El Principe must receive a daily briefing from at least one knowledgable advisor, which takes an hour each day but may be done at any time, to make use of this benefit over the next 24 hours. El Principe may then make a special royal knowledge check with a bonus equal to his aristocrat level + El Principe level + his INT modifier to see whether he knows relevant information about his fealty/kingdom or the bordering fealty/kingdom. In order for El Principe to make checks about neighboring fealties/kingdoms, he must not only rule his own fealty, but also have at least one agent in that kingdom, and a corresponding individual advisor for that kingdom brief him that day as well. If El Principe rules no fealty/kingdom, he may still be advised about the fealty/kingdom in which he presently resides. This check is similar to a bardic knowledge check, except its focus is on current events and circumstances, rather than ancient lore or lost secrets. El Principe receives a bonus on this check for each loyal agent present in the fealty he makes the check for, to a maximum of his El Principe level. Events are not usually known until 24 hours after the occurrence, unless it took place within 1 mile/El Principe level of El Principe's location at his time of briefing. Royal Leadership: El Principe may add his El Principe level to his character level for the purpose of his leadership score. His cohorts, however, may at no time be greater than two levels below the El Principe's total character level. Royal leadership allows El Principe to retain a lawful cohort or followers matching his moral alignment regardless of his ethical alignment provided El Principe retains a fealty/kingdom. Advanced Learning: El Principe has access to more arcane spells than merely the bardic class list. El Principe may add any one of the following spells, provided he can cast it, to his spells known. Or, El Principe may select another spell from the Bard spell list. 2nd- Chain of Eyes, Delusions of Grandeur, Entice Gift, Rebuke, Speak to Allies 3rd- Anticipate Teleportation, Arcane Sight, Detect Scrying, Vigor 4th- Royal Reformation (as Psychic Reformation), Sending, Telepathic Bond 5th- Analyze Dweomer, Heroes' Feast, Servant Horde, True Seeing, Greater Vigor 6th- Greater Anticipate Teleportation, Greater Arcane Sight, Foresight, Vision +X to CHA-based checks: El Principe has a way with people. He receives an increase in his bonus to all CHA-based checks beginning at 2nd level and increasing at every even level except 10th. This bonus may be shared with his Envoys as per the Appoint Envoy ability. Appoint Envoy (Su): At 3rd level, El Principe may bestow upon a representative his bonus to CHA-based checks. While such representatives have this bonus, El Principe may make use of it as well. At 6th level, as many as 2 representatives may retain this bonus at one time. At 9th level, as many as 3 representatives may retain this bonus. Bonuses may be revoked at any time, and such bonuses do not assure loyalty. Twin Cohort / Triple Cohort: At 5th level, El Principe may retain a 2nd cohort. At 10th level, El Principe may retain a 3rd cohort. El Principe's cohorts refuse to be sent on far-flung missions, and are reluctant to leave El Principe's headquarters unless El Principe himself leaves his headquarters. In all other respects, they behave as cohorts as per the Leadership feat. |
| Lormador05-01-08, 12:31 PM | I am going to play this class and attempt to seize absolute power in a small kingdom. While I can see why Bard is an excellent base for a royal character, and I love the idea of an Aristocrat PC, I wish the entry requirements were not quite so steep such that bard levels and "first level Aristocrat" were not necessary. I enjoy the new spells; maybe something like Forbiddance also? We seem to have an anti-teleport them. |
| Kuros8105-01-08, 03:21 PM | I am going to play this class and attempt to seize absolute power in a small kingdom. I'm not married to the aristocrat idea; but the class seems incomprehensible without the bardic pre-requisites. Or at the very least imbalanced: the abilities are too powerful to add to a full arcane caster, for example. At any rate, the idea here (and I need to create some fluff for the PrC) is that there's a real royal background. Its not enough to simply be some charismatic bard, you have to have had actual breeding. Breeding then adventuring/discovery, and the two work together. If anyone has any ideas how to work that into the PrC I'd be grateful. The other question is should the CHA-bonus be left as an unamed bonus or turned into an inherent/luck/insight bonus? |
