I recently noticed his exotic weapon trick to deal x2 Strength bonus instead of x1-1/2 only applies to wielding a one-handed weapon in two hands. At first I thought it might be an error, so I checked the errata in Complete Warrior...nothing.

Why wouldn't this weapon trick also apply to a two-handed exotic weapon?

Because two-handed weapons already have a base damage higher than the base damage of one-handed weapons, in general. This serves basically as a small balancing point to give some exotic weapon users a reason to use a one-handed weapon on two hands rather than simply using a two-handed weapon.

As for an in-game justification for this. . . I really have no clue. Make something up.

Its not optimal. Its flavor.

I guess I see it a bit differently. First, you get the option to use a shield with an exotic one-hander. Second, there is only a 2 point difference on a die roll going from one-handed category to two-handed category. As you get higher in Strength, the damage difference with uncanny blow on a one-hander will easily outmatch any two-hander.

The only upside I can see with a two-hander is if it has reach and even then it's versatility is about the same as a one-hander being able to swap to a shield, except the one-hander will now outdamage any two-handers.

Anyways, I guess it doesn't really matter. I was just hoping I missed something when I read it. I could always see if the DM will house-rule it, but I prefer to stick with official rulings.

I was leaning towards a longaxe, but maybe I'll go with a warmace and if I need to get my AC back I can put on a shield.
