Would these two classes be as cool of a combination as it sounds like it'd be? Sure, you wouldn't do anything well, but you could do anything. Also, if you where a DM would you still require a Factorum to have Able Learner to enter Chameleon, since essentially, he has a better version of the feat (all skills are class skills)

IMO it's one of the best PrCs for a Factotum to go into. It's definitely a nice synergistic build.

I never really thought about the Able Learner question. That wouldn't be a bad houserule.

You've got it backwards. Factotum has all class skills, but chameleon does not. As such one needs able learner to keep up some skills in chameleon.

I don't think they sinergize that well. Factotum gets more abilities and use them more with higher level. Having only a few level of Factotum would make you a dabbler at dabbling. You'll get more benefit by sticking to the class all the way.

Chamelon is good in itself, more focused during a chosen day but more powerful than factotum at what they do for that day. It synergize better with rogues (or similar class, like scout) and fighters, but any former class is good. The unique spellcasting doesn't work well with other spellcasting, but the metamagic feat you'd get from spellcaster levels will be good because the spells you get from chameleon does not qualify you for metamagic feat, and the spells could give you dual casting anytime you want. You'll get more spell than the Factotum.

I'm not comparing which is best, simply saying the the synergy might not be as good as it sound.

The Char Op board thinks it is a good idea. Most builds revolve around Factotum 8+/Chameleon10/X Sometimes adding swordsage.

Lvl 8 fact gets you the exrta standard action and chameleon 10 gets you an awesome gish in a can.

Search google for factotum handbook to see the nifty stuff they do with a fact/cham

From the Handy Links (http://forums.gleemax.com/showthread.php?t=482636) (In my sig for easy reference): Ted (http://forums.gleemax.com/showthread.php?t=889610)

Factotum 11/ Chameleon 9 seems to be the way to go.
