| El_Magnifeco02-17-08, 09:48 AM | Hey guys, ive got a question about the Frenzied Berserker class. It says that the affects of its Frenzy ability stack with those of any Rage ability they have. Does this mean you have to enter Rage as well as Frenzy for it to stack, or does it just stack automatically. Thanks for the help. |
| dman1123502-17-08, 12:43 PM | You have to enter both to get the benefits of both. When you enter frenzy, you get the benefits of it. When you enter rage, you get the benefits of it. Nothing says that you can enter frenzy and get the benefits of rage. Please. Punctuation. |
| DonThelonious02-17-08, 11:09 PM | dman is, once again:rolleyes:, absolutely right. You have to use each ability separately but while both are active they do stack. Its one of the reasons I think the Frenzied Berserker is over powered. |
| dman1123502-17-08, 11:33 PM | Please. Bear warrior gets you a higher strength boost. And a higher con boost. And gets you a dex boost. And you don't end up killing your comrades if you run out of things to kill. It's really powerful, but not overpowered. Now, bear warrior+FB... That's pain. Mainly I think the most powerful feature of the FB is the power attack boosts. Those can get crazy, much more than the strength boost. |
| DonThelonious02-18-08, 04:11 AM | Good point dman, but the bear warrior is highly limited on the number of times it can rage. As written a barb10/BW10 would only be able to use bear form 4 times per day, granted though the Extra Rage feat helps. A barb10/FB10 rages 3 times and frenzies an additional 5, making them much more dangerous... |

Seriously, it's not the strength that's powerful about the Frenzied Berserker, it's the Power Attack return improvement. JaronK |

A barb10/FB10 rages 3 times and frenzies an additional 5, making them much more dangerous... And a Barbarian 20 can Rage 6 times a day. Also, you can't wield that massive Great Axe in bear form. |
| Sinfire Titan02-18-08, 09:02 AM | And a Barbarian 20 can Rage 6 times a day. Also, you can't wield that massive Great Axe in bear form. Hammerfist+Superior Unarmed Strike says you don't need no freaking greataxe. |
| dman1123502-18-08, 12:18 PM | Yeah, that's right. Also: monk 3/barbarian 2/Fist of the Forest 3/Bear Warrior 5/Warshaper 3/Witchslayer 2. Can't be killed within reasonable encounters (high AC and saves, evasion and mettle), and dishes out the pain what with 50+strength. If I wanted to, I could up the strength to past 60 easy, especially with a draconic lolth touched water orc. Now, something else that would be painful is a bear warrior frenzied berserker. With the unarmed strikes as well of course. |
| Cartigan02-18-08, 12:21 PM | And now the topic is out of hand, again. |
| El_Magnifeco02-18-08, 12:56 PM | Thanks for clearing that up for me guys, I thought that it worked like that but I just wasn't sure. And dman, once again your knowledge helps me out, do you have the books uploaded into your brain or something? Anyway, peace out guys. |
| Legdiwena02-18-08, 01:29 PM | Hammerfist? Mettle? |
| dman1123502-18-08, 01:44 PM | No, I just happen to have dealt with a bear warrior recently. Ledgiwena: mettle is the ability that Hexblades get. It basically evasion for fort and will saves. Other classes get it, it's just that Hexblade was the first. Hammer fist I'm not sure about though. |
| Legdiwena02-18-08, 01:47 PM | Is there an improved version of mettle like imp evasion? |
| dman1123502-18-08, 01:49 PM | Oh dear lord no. At least not until epic. If there was, save or dies couldn't kill you. I believe the earliest you could get it is level 30. And that was with an epic PrC. |
| JaronK02-18-08, 03:10 PM | Hammer fist I'm not sure about though. Hammerfist is a Dwarf Only feat that lets you use unarmed strikes as two handed weapons (so better strength and power attack returns). JaronK |
| dman1123502-18-08, 04:17 PM | Aha! I have heard it before. I thought it was a spell, but I knew that was wrong. Hmm, drawven monk is my next character then... |
| goku6001802-20-08, 11:27 AM | just out of curiosity what book is witch slayer from |
| Akharu02-20-08, 11:41 AM | Yeah, that's right. Also, can't be made with a resonable DM. |
| Cartigan02-20-08, 01:56 PM | Also, can't be made with a resonable DM. I have mentioned that to him before yet he brings it up in every Monk or Barbarian related topic. |
| dman1123502-20-08, 02:54 PM | 1) Witchslayer is from ToM, but you can use any class that grants mettle. 2) Every time you call me on it Cartigan, I point out that you can always start monk and not look back. Don't lose anything other than leveling up privileges for not being lawful as a monk. Also, you could use the Chaos Monk, wherever that's from. As long as it grants evasion and unarmed strike as monk. Battle Dancer (Dragon Compendium) also works I think. Both of those are very monk like, and chaotic alignment required. But like I've said before, me and my DMs (most of them at least) get rid of most of the alignment restrictions for base classes. Paladin ones stay. PrC ones usually stay (Assassin goes). But classes like monk and barbarian and bard get rid of their silly alignment restrictions. Sometimes I forget that those exist when posting. This was not one of those times. |
| Legdiwena02-20-08, 03:23 PM | Chaos Monk is Dragon 335 in the Class Acts section. |
| Lamorake02-29-08, 01:44 AM | Noticed Hammer Fist has a few drawbacks that wouldn't be useful with the Bear Warrior or dwarven monk. Mostly useless for either, really. That's all I'll say regarding the feat due to rules of repeating too much info for the material, but you can look the rest of it up in Races of Faerun. |
| Sinfire Titan02-29-08, 03:36 PM | I have mentioned that to him before yet he brings it up in every Monk or Barbarian related topic. If he started as a Monk, then went into Barbarian, then it is legal. If he started as a Barbarian, then went Monk and never shifts his Alignment back to a Non-Lawful alignment, then it is not. |
| Legdiwena02-29-08, 04:02 PM | That's why he should play Chaos Monk |
