The Harvester:
I wanted to play around with mixing different kinds of gish types, and thought of a scythe using blend of the ranger and warlock. What do you think? Too much? Not enough?

Harvesters occur in those rare cultures where warlocks are not a novelty, but an acknowledged facet of the supernatural...if not the natural...world. Most of these societies, in keeping with the generally dark tone of the warlock, tend to be in conflict with other outside forces. Sometimes the foe is dark and fell, bent on the destruction of the harvester’s people. Other times, it is the harvesters that are the monsters in the night, descending on their victims as terrible agents of death, reaping their opponents as a farmer would a field of grain.

The harvesters wield their signature weapons; wickedly gleeming battle scythes. These blades often shine with an eldritch light, in odd shades of dark red, black-purple, blue-green or silvery gray. Though their abilties will work with any scythe, most harvesters take pride in using a single personal weapon, and will seek to enchant this weapon at the earliest possiblity.

Each harvester must designate a type of creature as his nemesis. This nemesis must be one of the harvester's favored enemies. Though he may freely use his martial abilities against any foe, certain of the harvester's abilties will only apply to this nemesis alone.

Requirements:
Feat: Favored Weapon (scythe)

CLASS FEATURES
All of the following are class features of the harvester.

Weapon and Armor Proficiency: Harvesters gain no additional proficiencies in weapons or armor.

Harvest Nemesis (Su): The harvester gains the ability to detect the presence of one of his favored enemies, as well as inflict additional damage. Once chosen, the decision is final, and the harvester's nemesis abilities will only work against this one type. The ability detects the presense of creatures of this type within 60 feet, as well as pinpoint their exact location (distance and direction) relative to the harvester. Normal barrier's and obstructions do not block this supernatural ability. This ability does not allow the harvester to see invisible or hidden creatures (although he can still discern their location).

In addition, the harvester can inflict an additional 1d6 points of damage on all attacks made with his scythe against his nemesis.

Eldritch Blast & Invocations: At each level except 1st, 4th, 7th, and 10th, a harvester increases his eldritch blast damage and eldritch blast caster level as if he had gained an additional level in warlock. The harvester also gains an increased caster level when using his invocations, and new invocations known at these levels as though he had gained a level in the warlock class.

Bonus Feat: Cleave: Starting at 4th level, while wielding his scythe, the harvester gains use of the Cleave feat. If he already knows Cleave, then he gains use of the Great Cleave feat while wielding a scythe.

Gird (Ex): At 4th level, when facing his nemesis, the harvester gains a +2 bonus to all of his saving throws, as well as a +1 deflection bonus to his AC. These bonuses only apply to attacks made by his nemesis. The harvester loses the use of this ability if he is flatfooted. At 10th level, the saving throw bonus increases to +4, and the deflection bonus increases to +2.

Bonus Feat: Great Cleave: Starting at 7th level, while wielding his scythe, the harvester gains use of the Great Cleave feat. If he already knows Great Cleave, then he gains use of the Improved Critical (scythe) feat.

Harvest Life (Su): At 7th level, the harvester gains a type of dark sustenance from the death of his nemesis. When such a creature is slain by the harvester’s scythe, the harvester can choose one of the following benefits.

- Bolster: The harvester can remove any one of the following conditions that he might be suffering from: Confused, Exhausted, Fatigued, Frightened, Shaken, or Sickened. This power does not heal disease, but will remove any of the above indicated symptoms for 24 hours. Multiple bolsterings do not stack (in reference to banishing the symptoms of disease), but the 24 hour duration is always calculated from the most recent bolstering.

- Healing: The harvester heals a number of hit points equal to the amount of damage inflicted on the nemesis by the killing blow. A single use of this ability can never heal more hit points than the target possesses immediately prior to the killing blow, but will include the target’s 10 negative hit points (if they possess negative hit points). The harvester can never go over his ordinary hit point maximum with this ability.

- Repletion: The harvester can sustain his body without need of food or water. If he deals the death blow to his nemesis, he does not need to eat or drink for 24 hours. Multiple repletions do not stack, but the 24 hour duration is always calculated from the most recent repletion.

- Restore: The harvester heals 1 point of temporary ability damage. This has no effect on ability drain.

Death Attack: As the assassin ability (DMG), but the ability is limited to the harvester’s nemesis. Unlike the assassin ability, the attack does not have to be a sneak attack, and can be a normal attack.
